Today's the day!

Today's the day! The book is in stores! I have confirmation. My friend Ashley just emailed me pictures of herself buying the book at a Borders. I don't know which specific store she was in, but its somewhere in Virginia. I am leaving work in about a half hour, and my plan was to stop at a local comic shop and a Barnes & Noble to see if the book is shelved yet.

Wow... now I feel like an author!

And the really neat thing? Ashley went in costume as Mirax Terrik Horn. Ashley was wearing the costume when I met her at this year's DragonCon, and I just loved it. So I guess she wore it for me today.

Edit - It's the New Essential Guide to Alien Species. Sorry. Silly thing for a writer to do, I know, leaving the title out.

I have another thought, gang. If more people would like to send me pictures of themselves with their books, I'll open a photobucket account or something like that and post them. I'd really get a kick out of seeing fans with the book.

Pictures can be sent to helen5@hotmail.com. Please don't send Hutt-sized images, but if you can't resize them, I'll take care of that.

date Posted: Oct 31, 2006 4:55 PM Yay!!! I've been so looking forward to this book for a very long time. Man, those illustrations look so sweet. Can't wait to get out of work and buy it!!! Hopefully the local shops will have it in stock, but here in Australia, you can't really count on that sort of thing. Here's to hoping... Congrats again!

definately had an enjoyable flip-through, havent been able to read th whole thing yet. I was a bit dissapointed to see so many non-sentient creatures in there, might have been nicer to just have aliens only, but still, the artwork is great and there are quite a few species getting detailed write ups for the first time, so Im looking forward to a detailed reading!

The UK, Australia, Belgium. Wow... Not that I'm being ethnocentric, but I didn't anticipate the reach of this. The world just got a lot smaller for me.
