The Reasons we Ranked it so:
________________________________________________________________________
=--
Jedi-Mon --=
Vector Prime: ***** -
was just great. an awesome way to start a series by introducing all of the key characters. basically non-stop action.
Dark Tide I: Onslaught: *** -
this book was good. it introduced the new character that plays a big role later on Ganner Rhysode. it also features one of my favorite characters Corran Horn.
Dark Tide II: Ruin: *** -
more or less the same reasons as Onslaught. more character development for Ganner.
Agents of Chaos I: Hero's Trial: **** -
after the emotional devastation Han went through with the events at the end of VP he meets an old friend and they go on some mission to deal with an old 'co-worker'. this was cool because it shows Han slowly recovering emotionally from VP.
Agents of Chaos II: Jedi Eclipse: * -
was just flat-out boring.
Balance Point: **** -
some good philosophical stuff and a cool fight scene. a interesting story as well.
Recovery: **** -
it was interesting to see Han and Leia recover from their fight - i guess you could call it - and see them still be able to make a difference.
Edge of Victory I: Conquest: **** -
really cool to see the inner working of the Vong. some interesting YV characters are introduced. lots of action too.
Edge of Victory II: Rebirth: *** -
wasn't too bad. though not a whole lot happened.
Star By Star: **** -
a really (dont know how to describe it) book. even the political stuff is interesting. though it is upsetting at the same time.
Dark Journey: ** -
just not all that interestng.
Enemy Lines I: Rebel Dream: ***** -
what a book. this is one that will keep you interested all the way through. another into to new characters that are interesting.
Enemy Lines II: Rebel Stand: **** -
a continuation of the previous book. it didnt quite match RD completely but still very occupying.
Traitor: ***** -
by far the best of the NJO. some of the greatest philosophical stuff Jacen goes through. so much everything. you cant escape the awesomeness of this book. everything i just told you is not a lie.
Destiny's Way: *** -
a let down coming off of a great book like Traitor but overall pretty good.
Force Heretic I: Remnant: **** -
it was cool to see Luke and his group try to do what they did. (i dont want to give spoilers but if you want to find out read the NJO summery blog).
Force Heretic II: Refugee: *** -
interesting some of the way but for the most part was dull because of semi-politics.
Force Heretic III: Reunion: **** -
good. interesting and ... well it wasnt bad.
The Final Prophecy: **** -
great character development for Tahiri, more of Corran, and another interesting story.
The Unifying Force: **** -
the grand finale. action-packed and very interesting. a great way to conclude a series like the NJO.
Dark Nest I: The Joiner King: **** -
was defineately a great way to start something off. a lot of action and just a really cool plot. the only problem i had was it was a little confusing around the begining. but it wasnt that bad.
Dark Nest II: The Unseen Queen: *** -
this wasnt bad, but it wasnt the greatest either. there was action and some cool things concerning Jacen.
Dark Nest III: The Swarm War: ***** -
great, just great. another interesting story. i liked seeing Leia complete her Jedi training. certainly the best of the three.

Vector Prime: ***** -
The one downer was the set up of the Politics of the New Republic. And of course Chewies' demise. Aside from that, I loved the way this story gripped me from the moment the Solo's got to Lando's on. Kyp's scene too was a edge of your seat moment. I grew to love this more and more each time I read it.
Dark Tide I: Onslaught: **** -
I loved this set. Corran is one of my favorite Jedi, and the intro of Ganner was a nice addition to the Jedi ranks, you hated him, yet liked him. Luke had a great scene saving Jacen that I realy enjoyed.
Dark Tide II: Ruin: ***** -
This one had a bitter sweet ending to it. But for me it didn't sway the story for me.
Agents of Chaos I: Hero's Trial: ** -
Agents of Chaos II: Jedi Eclipse: ** -
Balance Point: *** -
Recovery: *** -
Edge of Victory I: Conquest: ***** -
Edge of Victory II: Rebirth: ***** -
Star By Star: ***** - This book by Troy Denning is probly my favorite Denning story to date. I like it because he can really care a story along, out of all the NJO books, this one felt the most like ESB, ending with Anakin Solo's death, Jacen Solo's capture, and Jaina Solo fleeing for her life, on the verge of the dark side because of all the losses she has been dealt.
Dark Journey: ** -
Enemy Lines I: Rebel Dream: **** -
Enemy Lines II: Rebel Stand: **** -
Traitor: ***** - One of my all time favorites of the SW books. Stover wrote such a great story I had to re read it quite a few times before everything made sense. This book is where Ganner (another favorite character of mine) Dies a hero's death. I loved it so much I used to constantlt quote my favorite passage from it :
"You want me to move?" The shadow beckoned with the blade of light. "Come on and move me."
The smoke thinned, and cleared, and the Human within the archway didn't look at all like the Ganner Nom Anor remembered. This Ganner wore only faded brown leggings and battered leather boots. This Ganner was tall, broad-sholdered, and the light from his weapon gleamed on the sculpted muscle of his bare chest. The blade in his hand was steady as the roots of a mountain, but it was not this that made Nom Anor hesitate, made him run his thin yellow tongue nervously between his filed-sharp
teeth.
It was the light in Ganner's eyes.
He looked happy.
"There are thousands of warriors out here," Nom Anor repeated, waving a futile fist. "You are only one man!"
"I am only one Jedi."
"You're insane!"
The man's answereing laugh was deep and long and bright, full of joy and freedom. "No. I am Ganner."
He spun his shining blade in a dazzlingly complex flourish that illuminated the arch around him, making it shine like a rainbow frame for the pure, animal grace of his body.
"This threshold," he announced through a happy grin, "is mine. I claim it for my own. Bring on your thousands, one at a time or all in a rush. I don't give a damn." His flourish ended with the blade slanted before his chest, and his teeth flashed in the gloom.
"None shall pass." - Ganner Rhysode Traitor

jedi master wyatt the great --=
Vector Prime: ***** - I gave it a 5 because i found that it started off the series really well and how it showed how brutal the YV could be.
Dark Tide I: Onslaught: ***** - i gave this one a 5 too because it followed up the events of vector prime really well and showed that the YV could not be defeated so easily.
Dark Tide II: Ruin: **** - this one i gave a 4 because even though it was an amazing book it didn't have the emotional impact vector prime did and it showed that the YV had a weakness but i think they revealed that too early in the series.
Agents of Chaos I: Heros Trial: **** - i gave this one a 4 because i think that story would have fit beter later in the series and also i think they changed han's attiude too much.
Agents of Chaos II: Jedi Eclipse: ***** - this i gave a 5 because it shed more light on the YV and also it began putting han back the way he should be.
Balance Point: *** - this one io gave a 3 because it had the potnetial to become a great book but it focused too much on politcs and Jacen Solo.
Edge of Victory I: Conquest: ** - it gave this one a 2 because the attack on the temple happened too early in the series, Tahira's capture happened too early in the series, and focused too heavily on Anakin.
Edge of Victory II: Rebirth: * - i gave this one a 1 because it followed up the events of
EOV I: Conquest poorly and introduced Ben too early too.
Star by Star: ** - i gave this on a 2 because it revealed the voxyn too early and Anakin died too early.
Dark Journey: ** - i gave a 2 because i didn't like how i changed Jaina and i didn't like how they chose the Hapes cluster to be the setting of the book.
Enemy Lines I: Rebel Dream: **** - i gave a 4 because it finally showed some of the main characters get offensive againsit the YV and the only reason it did not get a five was that it showed a bit too much politics in it.
Enemy Lines II: Rebel Stand: ***** - this book i gave a 5 because it had an amazing space battle and the pace of the book never slowed down it was always action packed.
Traitor: ** - i gave a 2 because it changed jacen's attiude too much and was very slow compared too the other njo books.
Destinys Way: *** - i gave a 3 because it fucused too much on politics and didn't have a huge battle which was needed since traitor didn't have one.
Force Heretic I: Remnant: **** - i gave a 4 because i liked how it explored the unknown regions but didn't like how they included imperials in the book.
Force Heretic II: Refugee: ***** - i gave a 5 because it showed the ssi-ruuvi again and was a book that you never knew what would happen next.
Force Heretic III: Reunion: **** - i gave a 4 because even though it was an amazing book i didn't like how the search for zonama sekot ended and the battle on the communications base wasn't as big as the book made it sound.
The Final Prophecy: ** - i gave a 2 because i didn't like how they revealed a weakness in zonama sekot and i think they revealed too much info on the YV because i liked them better when they were a mystery.
The Unifying Force: *** - i gave a 3 because i don't think it ended the series that well and the whole alpha red plot was unnessary and slow.
Dark Nest I: The Joiner King: ***** - (see
Swarm War)
Dark Nest II: The Unseen Queen: ***** - (see
Swarm War)
Dark Nest III: The Swarm War: ***** - i gave them all 5 because the trilogy did not piggyback off of njo and had it's own story and it's own surprises.

Vector Prime:**** - I gave this one a 4. Even though a lot of people complaiend about Chewie's death, I found the death, and the rest of the book, well-executed. The starfighter battles are well detailed, Yomin Carr was creepy, and Nom Anor was absolutely horrifying. Great character development and portrayal of the corrupt New Republic politics as well.
Dark Tide I: Onslaught: **** - First one I ranked a 4.
Dark Tide I picked up where
Vector Prime left off pretty well. It calmly restarts the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, and this time it becomes clear there is no stopping them. Jaina Solo becoming a Rogue is icing on the cake.
Dark Tide II: Ruin: *** - This one I ranked a 3. It wasn't as well done, the invasion jumped from Dubrillion to Ithor really fast, I didn't like the suddeness. It felt rushed, unlike I, and felt a bit of a rehash of I. Ithor's destruction was well-done, though, and the sense of hopelessness and despair infected me. I began to wonder if the YV could truly be stopped.
Agents of Chaos I: Hero's Trial: *** - The first one is slightly better than the second, in my opinion, although I gave both a 3. As Han struggles to recover from Chewie's death, he discovers he has to go suck it up and take out his anger on the YV.
Agents of Chaos II: Jedi Eclipse: *** - Aslo ranked a three. The second novel is just a great big tragedy from beginning to end, with Centerpoint being misfired (Anakin probably should've taken the shot in my opinion) and Jacen's distancing from the Force was becoming extremely annoying.
Balance Point: *** - I ranked this one a three. It feels confined and small the whole way through. Han and Leia's reunion was excellently done, though. However, it became obvious to me from early on that Cree'Ar was a Vong, although I hadn't guessed he had been Nom Anor until he was revealed as such. The part when Leia is captured, and Jacen comes to the rescue also feels rushed. The one important part in this novel is when Tsavong Lah, after his humiliation at the hands of Jacen, calls for the Jedi to be hunted. And then you know it's gonna get worse.
Edge of Victory I: Conquest: **** - Greg Keyes is a decent writer, but when I read this I feel a little lost. Like Stackpole, Keyes rushed this duology out, and it doesn't do a real great job of showcasing the Jedi hunt (except for the attack on Yavin 4). The Duology would've been better had they allowed Knightfall to be released, that way Keyes wouldn't have had so much pressure to churn the two books out. That being said, Conquest is exciting, and Talon Karrde's involvement is cool. Anakin's feelings for Tahiri is well-written, along with Keyes' creepy prophecy for Tahiri Veila. Kinda cool to see Kam Solusar and Tionne again, and Valin, Sannah, Ikrit and Tahiri were characterized really well.
Edge of Victory II: Rebirth: ** - Rebirth is a massive downturn in quality, unfortunately, and it feels even more rushed, and is only redeemed by its humor and the birth of Ben Skywalker.
Star by Star: **** - Finally, a book that truly captures Star Wars' epic feel. A story that is thankfully about the next generation of Jedi as much as the OT characters, and Troy Denning liberally sprinkles in his own creations, including Saba and Tesar Sebatyne, Eryl Besa, and Ulaha Kore. Nearly everything here is well-done, including the raid on Myrkr (where everything goes wrong) and the battle for Coruscant (where everything goes even more wrong). A surprise is Borsk Fey'lya's sudden alignment with the Jedi for his own political survival, and Viqi Shesh is magically transformed from evil manipulator to supreme idiot (a change I don't agree with). Troy's style is plain, yet descriptive and lets you see the battles in ways only Tim Zahn was able to do. Anakin's death was a bit spoiled for me (I had read Dark Journey and Enemy Lines first) but that gave me a feeling of dread that haunted me throughout the book. Same with Jacen's capture. Excellent book.
Dark Journey: *** - (barely) Nowhere near as cool as Jacen's 'companion' fic, Traitor. Dark Journey takes us to the moment where Coruscant has just fallen, but the story lacks the intensity that Sbs had. Kyp's portrayed in a halfway-decent light for a change, and that's good. Jaina's little fall to the dark side, however, seems to be brushed over to me. I wanted to see Jaina do something truly EVIL. Hapan politics is given quite a bit of detail, though, and Jagged Fel (the ladies' man) leads the Hapan fleet to defeat the Vong in a nice, but too-short, battle. It's too bad that Tenel Ka makes her exit from NJO here . . . I liked her. It is only slightly above-average.
Quote: "Dawn, bright death of mortal light" he recited.
Enemy Lines I: Rebel Dream: **** - Ah, Aaron Allston. Rebel Dream injects a helpful dash of humor into the NJO mythos, and also starts things off with a dramatic invasion of Borleias. Wedge's little conspiracy with the Insiders adds some political intrigue as Jaina Solo becomes 'Goddess', which is used for a lot of hilarity and to taunt the Vong. Czulkang Lah adds a dose of spice to the Vong as well, he is the first Vong that is actually LIKABLE. It ends with Luke landing on Coruscant, Kyp losing Jaina to Jag, and of course, an only intensifying situation. Good stuff.
Quote: "Rogue Squadron to Borleias. We're back. We kicked your butts twenty years ago. Now we're here to do it again."
Enemy Lines II: Rebel Stand: ***** - Rebel Stand kicks off where Dream leaves off, and immediately wastes no time starting off the explosions. Mara and Luke's infiltration doesn't go according to plan, but that's to be expected. Nice to see Tahiri's kicking Lord Nyax's butt as well. It's too bad we don't get a glimpse of Jacen . . . Anyway, more fighting, more X-wings, more stuff blowing up, Han and Leia proving they're the best husband/wife pair in the galaxy, some hilarious Kyp/Jag/Jaina moments, and Viqi Shesh falls to her doom. What more could you ask for?
Favorite Passage: Which was it? Had he earned either the hatred or the affection of the gods?
Traitor: ***** - THAT Passage below gives you a good hint of what Stover's up to. Amazing wordplay and philosophy lessons imbue what's arguably the best NJO entry. Jacen's adventure and transformation is lavishly detailed, and Vergere's mind games will mystify the reader, too. Vergere's dual relationship with Nom Anor and Jacen Solo is also well-done, as is Ganner Rhysode's surprise entry (and a small segment in which Jaina shows the evil she should've shown in Journey). Ganner's last stand, while Gandalf-ish, strikes me more as a tribute to LOTR than a direct rip-off, and so the only flaw of Traitor is discarded in my eyes. Nom Anor getting tied up is the icing on the cake. Perfect.
Favorite Passage: The universe falls into another, wider universe: a universe full of gardens----Which is still full of weeds.
Destiny's Way: **** - Best NJO hardcover in my opinion. Walter Jon allows us to see the epic scale of NJO the same way Troy Denning did, and that's 100% awesome. Tsavong Lah's sudden OOC moments detracts a bit, but if you're nice you could attribute it to his anger over the loss of Czulkang. The green 'stun' lightning is an excellent, non-lethal entry into the Force-powers database, and the massive, weaving battles with a very well-characterized Twin Suns and the massive fleet-to-fleet battle in Ebaq Nine is impressive. Ackbar's strategy succeeding only adds to the classy nature of this novel. Very, very nice. The one lacking moment is in Jacen and Jaina's relationships, but that doesn't detract a lot from my score. Excellent.
Tsavong Lah: We are having a Jeedai hunt on Ebaq Nine! All Jeedai are welcome to participate!

Vector Prime: ****1/2 -VP is a great book and gets better everytime i read it...it tears my heart out 3 times! the demise of chewie....the emotional drift han causes blaming his own son for the death....and anakins thoughts of it all. the end where han just lost his protective "bubble" he had for his friends and family was horribly great. yes the SW galaxy is INDEED a scarey place. and for the Solos/Skywalkers REALITY just kicked in. the philosophical difference between anakin and jacen is cool. one opening the force through calm...the other USING the force for ends to save. Jaina comes to the for front in piloting skills. Nom Anor is exceptional on a smaller palpatine type scaled war bringer. this book for me was a 4 and a half stars!

"he's nothing but a boy" Nom Anor stared at her. "have you lost your wits? i KNOW this boy. humans do not honor warrior lineage. his means nothing. HE means nothing." Vergere spoke without the faintest hint of irony. "i tell you this: though neither he nor they know it, he is the greatest of all the jedi. Jacen Solo is the living jedi dream. even without the force, he is more dangerous than you can possibly imangine. you must let me go to him. he must be stopped"
