Jaina and Zekk come upon the Falcon and the debris of the Killik dartships. While the Noghri shooting Killiks of the hull on the Falcon, Jae and Tarfang attempt to escape in the ship, but target-locks from Jaina and Zekk stop them in their tracks. UnuThul's ship also arrives. Luke and Mara emerge into another chamber, this one lined with Killik larva cells, upon closer inspection, they see tiny larva devouring Chiss captives in the cells. Mara has been drawing on the Force to keep herself going, feeling a danger behind her, she turns and releases a stream of Force lightning into Alema. Luke feels uneasy about it but keeps it to himself.

Welk appears and Luke and Mara split up, Mara is grabbed with the Force and thrown into a larva cell and gets punctured through the abdomen with a set of mandibles, she shoots the Killik in the head and turns to see the same assassin Gorog that befriended Ben, she aimed her blaster, but the handle becomes cold and the depletion alarm sounds. Weaponless, she uses the Force to squeeze the Gorog until it popped, Welk fires at the Gorog body and it explodes. Mara puts up a Force shield to block the blast and glimpses and face, but when the light of the blast dies down the apparition dissapears.

Luke with dual blades battles Welk with his red blade, Luke's movements and reactions are slowed and Alema's lightsaber turns cold and defuses. In the heat of the fight Luke uses the Force to choke Welk, he starts to wonder if he could kill in this manner when he had other means to defend himself. He releases Welk and brings his lightsaber into guard position, but like his other blade, this one turned cold and died. Luke charges and grabs Welk's wrists and forces Welk's own lightsaber into his stomach and kills him and the battle is over. Both Luke and Mara have burns and other injuries.

Mara: Skywalker! Are you crazy? Finish him!
Luke: Not that way, The Force may have no light or dark side, but we do. We must choose.
Mara: Right now?
Luke: Especially now.
