There has been much debate between fans over the years, about "Who is the Chosen One?" Amazingly, some fan's won't accept Lucas' answer that Anakin truly is the Chosen One.
"...which brings us up to films IV, V, and VI where Anakin's offspring redeem him and allow him to fulfill the prophecy where he brings balance to the Force by doing away with the Sith and getting rid of evil in the universe." --George Lucas, pre-film feature in the 2000 release of the Classic Trilogy (A NEW HOPE)
But then there is another debate on the Balance of the Force, that has been brought up on several forums I am a part of.
The question is
"How was the Force Balanced?"
I've came up with many theories based on other people's, comparing, contrasting, and came up with only ONE probable answer.
By the time A New Hope roles around, as far as we know, there are 2 Sith, 2 Jedi left, 2:2, seems balanced. Then Ben dies, there is 1:2. Then Yoda dies, there is 0:2, then Luke confronts Vader. Vader kills Palpitain and dies along with him 0:0, but Yoda said he must confront Vader, in order to become a Jedi, now there is 1:0 with Luke in the Jedi Order. So Yoda and Luke just screwed things over right there.
Or Anakin destroys the Sith along with himself, the remaining Jedi have died, now Balance to the Force by destroying both sides of the Force, now there is just the Force. But Yoda says to Luke "Pass on what you have learned!" So I'm guessing Luke would go on to Recreate the Jedi Order like shown in the Expanded Universe, bringing more Jedi into the mix bringing a X:0 ratio. The Sith Order has fallen, and the only evil left would be the Dark Jedi if there was any.
So would that make Luke the Unchosen One...?
My main point I like to bring up is that NO WHERE in the Star Wars Movies were the words "Light Side" muttered. However the Dark Side was.
Since the death of Vader and Palpitain brought balance to the Force, and yet Jedi remained, perhaps our "Light Side", is The Force's Neutrality, rather than a side, and it is the Dark Side of the Force that creates the unbalance?
Yoda foresaw the destruction of the Sith to be the Balance of the Force, which I stand my above theory on. Yet Yoda states in Revenge of the Sith; "A prophecy, easily misread it could." Although he was talking about if Anakin was the Chosen One or not, it can in turn mean that he admits the prophecy could have been misread. Perhaps the Jedi also had to go too.
Now Anakin could have brought balance to the Force with Anakin/Palpitain, Yoda/Obi-Wan. Or, When Obi-Wan and Yoda died, then Palpitain and Vader, it was complete.
But that brings my point, what if Luke messed that up? He is now a Jedi after Vader's death, and Yoda told Luke to "Pass on what you have learned" which means Luke will probably follow it and bring more Jedi into the mix.
Now, can you honestly say that you believe that's the direction Lucas was going? That is why I stand my ground on "Force Neutrality"
