Keeping Up With the Joneses
I know I should be working on my CIV blog, but this news was too good to pass up. I stumbled upon this news article on Comcast.net regarding Indy 4 and felt the need to share this tidbit of SQUEE news with you all. I just can't get enough of da Maker, who I'm still trying to forgive for not showing up to his own party in Los Angeles. :D I guess this bit of news warrants forgiveness since he is working on this speschul project for us right now. ;)

Check out Who's Who in the cast...SQUEEEEEE

This one's for you Hansgirl. ;)

Back to your regular scheduled blogging program or whatever we do in here. :^O

Sean Connery Won't Be Back for `Indy 4'
By DAVID GERMAIN, AP Movie Writer

LOS ANGELES - The next "Indiana Jones" flick will not be another father-son affair. Sean Connery says he will not return to play dad to Harrison Ford's globe-trotting adventurer Indy.

Connery played Indy's father in 1989's "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," the third installment of the franchise directed by Steven Spielberg and produced by George Lucas.

"I get asked the question so often, I thought it best to make an announcement," Connery, 76, said in a statement posted Thursday on Lucasfilm's "Indiana Jones" Web site. "I thought long and hard about it, and if anything could have pulled me out of retirement it would have been an `Indiana Jones' film."

"I love working with Steven and George, and it goes without saying that it is an honor to have Harrison as my son," he said. "But in the end, retirement is just too damned much fun."

The fourth "Indiana Jones" film, not yet titled, is again directed by Spielberg and produced by Lucas. Shooting begins this month, and the movie is due out May 22, 2008.

Lucasfilm also announced Thursday that Cate Blanchett, John Hurt and Ray Winstone will be joining the cast, which along with Ford, includes Shia LaBeouf.

Connery _ who played the bookish Henry Jones Sr. in "The Last Crusade" and affectionately called his son "Junior" _ did have some words for the 64-year-old Ford.

"I do, however, have one bit of advice for Junior: Demand that the critters be digital, the cliffs be low, and for goodness sake keep that whip by your side at all times in case you need to escape from the stunt coordinator!" Connery said. "This is a remarkable cast, and I can only say, `Break a leg, everyone.'"

I thought Sean's comments were sincere, humorous, and enlightening...I actually posted a comment on his website to that effect. I'll miss him but I get it.

The next "Indiana Jones" flick will not be another father-son affair.

If the rumors are true... I wouldn't be so sure. ;) Even sans Sir Sean, I can't imagine a Spielberg movie without some element of missing-fatherhood.

Quite frankly I would watch Ray Winstone and John Hurt if they starred in the Hilton Sisters story - so Indy IV is rocking for me already!! :)

Thanks for the info. That's going to be an outstanding cast, except for Shia LaBeouf. I thinks he's been in way too many movies recently, including the new Transformers movie. I'm curious what the story is going to be. I guess I'll have to check the Net.

Mmm, I'm still on the fence about Indy IV. I'm seriously worried that this one might cause the whole franchise to jump the shark... but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.

Seriously?!?! How rude!

Ahh. I can get by without Sean, he was a nice touch, but certainly didn't make the whole Indy Series. I mean afterall, it was all about Ha--Ha--Harrison. MMMMmmmmm.:x:x:x

Oh my, Harrison's 64?! I had no idea. Well for that reason alone, and also because Lucas is involved, would have given me cause to cast my usual doom and gloom negative comments about this project. I mean look what happened when he resurrected Star Wars and made 3 movies - complete arse.

However, now that I've learned that Ray Winstone is involved, it should be a blast.

Betcha he's the bad guy.

Disclaimer: It still may be a flop. I thought the remake of The Hitcher would be watchable thanks to Sean Bean, but it aint.

'Tis a shame Mr. Connery won't be in the cast. He's such a good actor. Alas, some things just are not meant to be.

In any case, I certainly am looking forward to Number IV! Now that's a non-SW film for which I just may attend the Midnight Showing!

Too bad he won't be in it. Would make it fun if he were. Some people just know how to say no and when it's time to quit.

Has anybody seen the cast listing for the next installment of the Mummy series??? According to what I saw, Brendan Fraser is the ONLY one coming back, as far as original cast goes.
