Like My Father Before Me

Most Heartbreaking Star Wars Line
I have seen ROTJ more times than I can count since it came out in 1983, but one line stands out for me now like it never did before. After Luke has turned himself in on Endor he has that short discussion with Vader. Towards the end of that discussion, during which Luke has been trying to convince Vader that there is still good in him, Vader says "It is too late for me, son." After having seen the prequel trilogy now, and after having seen Anakin's tragic fall, that one line has taken on a whole new life for me. I practically cry like a baby now when I hear it during ROTJ. Anakin is there...right there, but he is trapped by Vader and enslaved by the Emperor. That line gets me because it is Anakin saying that, not Vader. Probably for the first time in over 20 years Anakin has spoken, and to his son no less!! Powerful stuff! I just gave myself the chills!
