The Forcecast Questions
If you are a regular listener (and you really should be!) to the Star Wars podcast called The Forcecast, you may have heard of a standard list of questions they ask. Well, I thought I would write a blog with my own answers to these questions:

Which is your favorite movie?
This a tough one since all six are all good in their own ways. Empire was my introduction to the Star Wars universe as a kid, so I'm tempted to pick that one. However, I think I have to say A New Hope. Aside from all the history-making aspects of the film, I think it has the most heart of all six. Evil is on the verge of snuffing out the good and yet, against incredible odds, they are victorious.

What is your favorite line?
"Don't try to frighten us with your sorcerer's ways Lord Vader..." This little speech that Admiral Motti gives in A New Hope is so cheesy and arrogant that you actually cheer for Vader to choke the son of a gun. This is definitely my favorite line.

What moment makes you smile?
This is an easy one for me. It is in Return of the Jedi when Han is reunited with Luke, Leia, and the rest of the gang and he asks Luke how they are doing. Luke responds, "the same as always." Han's retort is, "that bad, eh?" It's a conversation between old friends Luke and Han, but also between Han and the audience. I just love the meaning behind that simple exchange. We're flawed, we're in a tight spot, but we've been there before and we've gotten out together.

What moment makes you sad?
This is also from Return of the Jedi, when Luke ignites his lightsaber and taps into the dark side to defeat Vader. The fact that this is a father and son battling it out to the benefit of only the Emperor is such an emotional scene.

Who is your favorite character?
There are so many great characters, but I will have to choose R2-D2. His unwavering commitment to doing the right thing, despite all odds is such a wonderful trait. He saves the day in almost every movie: Fixes the shields (I), Saves Padme from being incinerated (II), Delivers the Death Star plans to the Rebellion (IV), Fixes the hyperdrive on the Falcon (V), Provides the lightsaber to Luke to rescue the entire gang (VI). In fact the only movie he doesn't have a major role is Revenge of the Sith and we know how that movie ends!

Who is your least favorite character?
I know this is cliche, but I have to say Jar-Jar. But it's not because he is annoying and irritating. My biggest problem is that he reminds me of Bill Cosby. How is that so? It is in the scene where Anakin is trying out his new podracer. Jar-Jar's face is caught in the binding waves and numbs his tongue. At this point, Jar-Jar rips off a comedic bit by Bill Cosby about having a numb tongue at the dentist's office. That one scene completely pulls me out of the Star Wars universe which, considering the genius George Lucas has in creating such amazing fantastical worlds, is unforgivable.

What is your favorite curse word?
The only one I can really remember is from Empire: echuta! However, my favorite insult is when Artoo calls Threepio a mindless philosopher. His retort is a pathetic, "overweight blob of grease."

What job would you most want to have in the Star Wars universe?
Aside from one that would not get me killed, I'd have to say the gunner on the Millennium Falcon. I'd have my iPod cranking the John Williams score as I take down TIE fighters...DUN-dun...dun..dun0dun...dit-diti-dun-dun-dun-dun...dada-dun...dada-dun...dadaaaaah...dun-dele-dun-dahhhhhh.

What job would you least want to have in the Star Wars universe?
An Imperial officer. I couldn't stand the bureaucracy!

If you were in a Star Wars movie and George Lucas just said cut on your last scene, what would you want him to say?
Let's do another trilogy!
