What happen to Chewbacca after he helped Yoda get off Kashyyyk and how did he become Han Solos copilot? I have some theories that could have happened to our big furry friend. Chewbacca could have been captured by the Empire after order 66 was executed (because the Empire hates Wookiees and enslaved them after the battle of Kashyyyk) and sent to an imperial prison. I heard that Han Solo enlisted in the imperial army, so I think he helped Chewbacca escape the prison. Wookiees have a thing called a life debt when some one saves them they own there life to that person so Han saved Chewbacca to he owns Han a life debt. So that would explain how Han might have met Chewbacca. Anther theory could be that he escaped Kashyyyk in one of the hidden ships (like Yoda) and could have met Han in a space station or Han could have saved Chewbacca another way. I heard from someone that Chewbacca owned a life debt to Han Solo's Father and then he gave him to Han when he was older. May things could have happened to Chewbacca in about 20 years.
