 | Another Celebration Begins! |
Yesterday we went live with registration for Star Wars Celebration IV.
I do not claim to know anything about what it's like to be a parent, but so far in my life I imagine that these Celebrations are as close to the experience giving birth as I've come.
I did not work on Celebration I, but the events have been my babies since CII. It's a dream job, planning parties for my fellow Star Wars fans, but I find it takes endurance and strength of will as much as it does creativity, organization, and a sense of humor.
The first contraction might have started yesterday at noon, but planning for CIV started a year ago, when I was touring the country with Peter and Owen of Gen Con, looking for a larger venue. As awesome as Indianapolis was, we had simply outgrown it. Time to think big!
Welcome to the next ride!
One of the best parts of Celebration is the ideas and contributions from fellow fans. Watch the celebration landing page around the middle of November for information on how you can submit an event idea, or submit an application for a fan club table!

And thank you for taking the time to put this together. We are in the "infant" stages of this, but what a rush it is. I can't explain the mass hysteria we, the fans, feel right now. Mostly due to meeting all of our friends here on SW.com, but also attending such a wonderful PARTY....er...I mean event.
I came, I saw, I registered...WOOHOO.
Thanks for all your hard work.

Mina, thank you so much for the kind words. It's extremely gratifying, and humbling, to know you're looking forward to Celebration IV.
I better get to work on some extremely cool stuff!
All suggestions welcomed! fanevents@starwars.com goes directly to me.

Oh yes - I had Mrs. 01 feverishly registering our tickets at noon yesterday while I was at work!
Can't wait!
I have to say, as excited as I am to be attending this celebration (which I also see as a celebration of the last 30 years of my life), I think I'm mostly looking forward to hooking up with all the wonderful folks I've met on these here blogs!
7 months and counting....
Here's a thought - if anyone has a particular fondness for any of the cartoons I have been posting here (or nearly nude Han for that matter), and wants their own copy - I'd be happy to bring the originals along to sell to you or auction for the charity of Lucasfilm's choosing.

Thank you for all the work you do/have done to make these extravaganzas so much fun for us. My husband and I were in Denver for CI. We pulled our two daughters (big SW fans) out of school to attend CIII (we had to miss CII - scheduling conflict), and my youngest daughter and I are going to CIV (at least half the family will be able to make it!). We've had a super time at all of them; we certainly appreciate all the SW team does to make the Celebrations as memorable as they have been.
It was all I could do to contain myself yesterday when I couldn't be online 2 p.m. central time to buy tickets (work), but got online as soon as I walked in the door to buy our 2 4-day passes. California here we come!

Mary:
I know a LOT of people are complaining about it being in L.A. mainly due to the distance it will take many of us to get there. But I just want you to know its not ALL of us. I'm actually very excited by LA, Ive never been there so this will be an all new adventure.
Plus Im sure it will be easier to possibly get some BIG NAMES to show up as most celebrites live near or around there anyway.
And if a larger venue and 24 hour store help alleviate lines and waiting, Im all for it!
Keep up the great work, looking forward to more info as you can give it!

I greatly appreciate all the work that has gone (and will continue to go) into C4. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it! I'm working on more costumes and saving up the cash big time, but I can't think of a better way to spend my time and $ right now. I've never been West of Iowa, so this is going to be the trip of a lifetime for me!
Thanks for all your hard work and continuing effort!

While we appreciate your generous offer to sell your works for charities at Celebration IV, it's best to leave this discussion off-boards. Sales of artwork at Celebration IV can only be done by approved artists in the CIV Art Show - more details to follow on starwars.com.
Thanks again for your enthusiasm, but no other sales allowed.

After writing that cold-water comment, I did want to thank all of you for sharing your enthusiasm for the event, and for traveling to L.A. I can't wait to see you there, and I welcome your ideas for what you'd like to see at the show.

Hello from Argentina!
We are very happy here, yesterday me and another 2 friends bought the tickets to Celebration IV, we are looking fowards to that amazing party and getting ready, we have our plain tickets ready too!!!
But we are a bit worry about how international members of Hyperspace will be consider to enter on the 24th only fans day, we don't have the card of the club as the US fans do...we are registered here, how will you know we are members?
Besides that ,we know all will be just perfect and it might be impossible ...but our bigest wish is to meet or just see Anakin-Hayden and Obi Wan-Ewan in the event.
May The Force be with us always.

I'm so glad you and your friends are coming from Argentina!
Contrary to popular belief, US members of Hyperspace do not show cards to get benefits. The way it will work, and the way it will work for you, too, is that if your Hyperspace membership is current in April when we cross-check the list, you will have your lanyard and your Friends & Family coupons (if you buy a 4-day pass) set aside for you. You will be able to pick them up in Will Call at the show. US members can either have them mailed to them, or pick them up in will call.
Hyperspace has your information if you are a current, paid member. So no problem!
Can't wait to see you there!

A good sign so far is how smoothly registration went. No fuss, no muss, and in a couple of minutes I was good to go.
Hope the hotel registration goes as well .

Thanks again for your enthusiasm, but no other sales allowed.
Fair enough - I should have considered the licensing issues.
Thanks for the heads up, Mary.
Back to the black market for me....
