Lucasarts has finally been giving us a few gems, but with the 360 out and the PS3 waiting in the wings, along with the gameboy DS and PSP, I think it is time to make a new list of Star Wars Games that I want to play!
1.) Bounty Hunter II: This time I want a fairly young boba fett (just after the clone wars, aged 16-18) on his way to building up his reputation as a bounty hunter. I want it to be on a next gen system, and I want it done in a free-roaming style like the GTA, Spiderman, or more appropriately, the Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction games.
Imagine, you are based off your ship, the Slave I, which you can walk around and use various equipment in, look at prisoners, and access the Imperial Enforcement Datacore, which has your bounty list. You can take on new bounty contracts from here, or choose a destination (think of it as the island lab base where samson is at in Hulk: Ultimate Destruction).
Now, imagine you take a bounty (usually they are wanted alive), and you are told some background info and their last known location. So you travel to that planet and talk to people and investigate and find clues to track them down. I think the main game mechanic should focus on the actual hunting, with a nice combat system backing it up for when you finally reach them.
Now that you have tracked your quarry on planet or perhaps across multiple planets, you have to confront and capture them (or in some cases kill). Once you do that, you bring them back to your ship, and put them in a cage. Now you fly back to the planet of origin for the bounty and turn in your prisoner. Note that friends of the bounty or rival hunters (bossk!) might try and steal your bounty from you at any time during this process! Once you hand them in, you get paid.
With your money, you can add upgrades to your armor and ship, or repair and refuel the ship. The story can really help flesh out young fett's character, along with providing some info on why Vader says "no disintigrations" and how the galaxy is just after E3. This game would really blow people away and be a best seller for sure!
2.) Imperial Commando: New characters, of course, but make this a sequel to Republic Commando. Only this time, we are fighting rebels between ESB and ROTJ, culminating in participating on the ground battle at endor, perhaps? Sharpen up the graphics for next gen, and improve the squad control system giving me more flexibility and control over my group, and this one is a winner.
3.) Republic at War: Empire at War looks so awesome, its deserving of a sequel already, detailing the clone wars! Might want to wait a year or three, but this is a game people are going to want for sure!
4.) X-wing Series: What happened to the Xwing series? This was by far the best series of games produced by lucasarts! I can only imagine what they would be able to do with the graphics now, pushing the game toward looking photo real, and having many larger epic battles. Give me either more ace azzameen, or a new story in the same vein, maybe from an imperial perspective and then becoming a turncoat to fight for the rebels? Biggs style? Heck, why not make the game about Biggs? Start as a transport pilot out of tatooine for Heff Darklighter, then join the imperial academy, then defect to the rebels, then try the trench run? Itd be fun.
5.) Starfighter 3: I loved the first two games, finish the trilogy! I need to see what Adi is doing before she gets killed in the obsession mini series and what nym and company are doing during the clone wars! Maybe give us back Rhys Dallows and Vana Sage?
6.) Sabbac: Definately ripe for being a game done on the official site or even for the gameboy dual screen or PSP, a sabacc game would be great fun. I just want the game done right, and to be well researched. Beyond that, there are several poker games out there right now that sell well enough to continue getting made.
7.) Dejerik Holochess: Again, perfect for the handhelds or the website, dejerik holochess would be a dream come true for some fans. Along with sabacc, these games should have some kind of netplay feature that allows us to play our friends and type in a chat room!
8.) Swoop Racer: The Podracer games reached their peak with Racer's Revenge. But what we have not explored is a young Han Solo's swoop racing career! Sticking harrison ford's younger face on the cover wouldn't hurt sales, and racing swoops through the crystal swamps of agrilat and watching dengar wipe out would be fun! I'd just suggest putting more story into this one than you did racer's revenge. A story with the kind of depth that Bounty Hunter had, with nice ILM rendered cutscenes. If you sell this game as the Origin of Han Solo in a racing game, people will buy. Guarenteed.
I could probably keep going all day, but these are the ideas that I feel would work best as commercial successes. I know I would love to play each and every one of them. Curious what other ideas are out there and what people think of mine!
