Why The Force Did Anakin Trust Palpatine????
Hey fellow Star Wars fans! Today I will be blogging about something I've been wondering about for some time now, and I wanted to get everyone else's opinion.

Now, I know this has probably been brought up many times before, but I've never seen an answer. I realize Anakin had known Palpatine for almost his entire life, so that might cloud his judgement, but come on! If he was that close to him, then that in my opinion would mean he could, for lack of a better phrase, "peer into his soul more accurately than anyone else."

I understand that Palpatine was manipulative, and a master at keeping his identity a secret, but I would think after spending all that with him, Anakin would be able to see glimpses of it now and then.

Well, that concludes my blog. I picked the above picture because Anakin and Palpatine are the main people featured in this blog...

May the Force be with you all! ;

look at it this way:

Paplatine was the "kindly" old uncle whom slips you the libation when
no one's looking. The one who tell you what you want to hear. Not what
you need to hear. He also fed Anakin's ego.

Obi-Wan was the disciplinarian. He set the crufew. He with held the
car keys on a Saturday night because you flunked that surprise quiz in school.

That IMO is why the Force Anakin trusted Palpatine.

Palpatine fed Anakin's ego, and Anakin was an egomaniac.... Anakin was selfish and Palpatine played on that...

When Anakin whined, Palpy listened and pretended to be sympathetic.

First, Anakin wasn't always with Palpatine at first. But we know via the EU that Palpatine came to the Jedi Temple to see Anakin's training from time to time. He even gave a young Maul a "tour" of the temple once.

No Jedi, even Yoda, ever picked his Dark Side presence. So you can't ask Anakin, who was never as experienced as Yoda to do it.

Granny-Wan and leia19886 have given the other part of the answer, I agree with them.

I agree with Granny-Wan and leia19886. Another point the follows theirs' is that Anakin broke the rules of the Jedi going back to his attack on the Tusken Raiders. These are issues that Anakin could not discuss with the Jedi without the risk of being expelled. The only people he could turn to were Palpatine and Padme.

Anakin lost Qui-gon and his mother, I think he was always looking to fill the void their deaths left in his heart.

Anakin came to the Jedi at an advanced age (for Jedi anyway). His life had been spent to that point amongst those that weren't attuned to the Force.

Palpatine showed an interest in him at an early age. When Anakin grew frustrated with the Jedi and their teachings, Palpatine was there to be a sounding board and a non-Jedi mentor.

It had nothing to do with Anakin's age or whatever. If you ask me, Obi-Wan and the others were too young to join a religious order. I can say the same about Anakin. Who, by the way, trusted Palpatine because the latter seemed to accept him more than the Jedi did . . . including Obi-Wan, who had criticized Anakin one too many times. Look at how long it took the Jedi to realize that Palpatine was a Sith Lord.

It's not so much that Anakin was selfish, it's that he cares too much for those he trusts and will do anything to protect him. If you look closely he never did anything that was for himself it was always because of the ones he loved. As for why he trusted Palps, simple he never gave Anakin a reason not to trust him. He was always there to listen to Anakin and offer advice. It's very hard to see the forest for the trees when you're on the inside of a situation, it's very easy to see when you're removed from it. Like a friend who can't see they're in a bad relationship
