 | Why dont the powers at LFL hit us with some new EU Tunes? |
Im a huge fan of the EU. Ive found time to read Star Wars on 4 different continents. I like to listen to the OT and PT soundtracks sometimes because its just fun.
Id really like to hear some new music! The Republic Commando soundtrack by Jesse Harlin was the bomb, and I really like the Shadows of the Empire soundtrack by McNealy as well. there are some great tracks on there and it would be awesome to hear some music made for some of the Timeline's series.
What would the Wraith Squadron theme sound like? The Yuzhann Vong theme, the music for the death of Chewie? Or what would Jacen Solos theme sound like, Jag's theme, Thrawn's theme. Ganners Stand, Corran vs. Shedow Shai on Ithor, the Voxin raid, the fall of Coruscant, Boba and his new super commandos saving the day at Gyndine. There are some awesome moments that I think deserve there own music.
I know some of it has to do with money but I think someone could come up with a way to tie it in to the books coming out in the future. Im sure this new TV show thats coming out in a few years will have a kickin score to it. So will the next gen games, so why not the Books.
Maybe if we ask enough someone will notice.

I fully agree with you. Whenever I read a star wars book I always have some star wars music going to get the feel of whats going on in the book. Sometimes I will put on the music from the opening space battle in RoTS whenever i'm reading a space battle in a book or the Imperial march whenever there is a scean with the bad guys. Music is a very important part to the star wars universe, with out it I don't think star wars would have been so succesful.

Same here!! I'd love to hear all sorts of that stuff-the music is in what my opinion MADE Star Wars double good!! Not only do you get a great story, you get a feel for what's going on. Besides, I need new SW music to paint by! Lol..

I dunno... I thought the SOTE soundtrack album was ridiculous (Well, actually I though SOTE as a whole was ridiculous,) but I've never really felt the need for music to go with my books. It makes sense for a movie or game, as it really sets the emotional mood, but a book it just seems rather superfluous, as the prose itself should take care of that aspect. I've never been one to 'hear the SW music' as I'm reading... Books, movies, and games all have entirely different rhythms, and I experience all three differently. (Well, less with games, as I rarely play them.)
Now, an EU art book, that I would love. The best part of the new Chronology for me was the art. But I've always been more visual than aural

I didnt like every track on the SOTE CD but there were some cool ones. I liked Xizor's theme, and the Beggars Canyon chase.

Now that would be ori'kandosii, I agree! The Vong stuff was neat to see.

This is a great idea. I didn't know there was a Shadows of the Empire soundtrack until I stumbled over it at my bookstore, and it was a real joy. I could just imagine what some of the music would be from the New Jedi Order and it would be awesome!
Also, an EU artbook would be great. The artwork in the new Chronology was all right but didn't seem too real to me; I prefer the old Chronology book's art, even if it's in black and white, but the one picture of Corran vs Shedao Shai was awesome (even if that wasn't the setting ). I'd really like to see a picture of Anakin Solo fighting next to Vua Rapuung
Back to soundtracks: I hope someone sees this and I would love it if they did something like this again.

I usually do have Star Wars music playing when I read a Star Wars book; it just seems more enjoyable to me . Also, I've had some wierd experiences where I read about a dark power and dark music plays; it gets more wierd when I read a little further, come across the power again and the dark music returns (freaky!!!)

I have to pick up the SOTE soundtrack someday. And getting the RC soundtrack is easy. You can download it on the site! But what I would really like is an official soundtrack release of the KOTOR games. That music is genius. It totally fits with SW and sounds like John Williams but it isn't!

~~Can still image in my mind's eye every scene in the SW Ep's while listening to the sondtracks~~
Shadows of the Empire soundtrack still sits in a large container, awaiting shippping, (hope the di'kut'la ship doesn't sink), in it's shrink wrap!!
I would agree to soundtracks for SOME of the books. Those like the 'Tales' books would be a bit hard to put a score to, but single storyline books should be no problem.
Better yet, more movies!
The Art of book sounds a very good idea.
k'oyaci!!!

I agree. I like to listen to the soundtracks when I am painting or at the drawing table. The music from the games are cool too, but they are too short. I like the Jango theme from Bounty Hunter, and the music from Republic Commando is very cool.

I love the soundtracks, I don't have SotE or RC but they sound cool. I agree about soundtracks about books, that might be cool.

Some of the music from the clone wars cartoon was pretty kandosii as well.
I dont listen to music while reading, but when Im reading I can hear in my head the perfect musical piece that would go great with the scene. New music would be cool to asscociate some of the new characters and action to whats going on in that era of the timeline.

Great idea, indeed! I love soundtracks, and it'd be kandosii to see soundtracks to your described scenes!
I also second that there should be an artbook for EU moments... yeah, we got great artists like Tom Hodges, Chris Trevas and Joe Corroney making illustrations for SW Insider, and other great artists doing art for the RPG handbooks (especially WotC ones... they're featuring some of the most awesome arts ever), and all those together really should do illustration to everyone's favorite scenes in the EU
Maybe, just maybe, we'll get something like that, one day! I'm such an art-lover, and thus I really hope that we at least get something like "The Art of SW Series" and "The Art of SW Games"!

Are you suggesting they make a movie soundrack...for books? I'd rather they just made the books into movies. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be able to listen to NEW SW music, but if it's not a movie soundtrack, it's not by John Williams, and he has no equal. It would also be kind of like resigning ourselves to an EU-movie-less life, and I just can't do that.
