My Star Wars Thoughts

You gotta start some where.
So this is my first blog EVER! Ok, I feel a little behind everyone on this new form of communication, and a lot of that is the old excuse of time, but here I am.

Right now a noisy and dusty monsoon is stirring up outside my bedroom here in Gilbert, Arizona and it reminds me of sitting in the shed with my cousins in Tucson playing with our old Kenner action figures (most of the guns having been lost) with rain pelting down and pretending where on the most isolated part of some desert planet in a galaxy far far away...

In fact, my earliest, earliest memory of Star Wars dates back to about 77' and I'm watching Saturday morning cartoons on ABC at Grandma's when my cousins' come bursting in with a Tie Fighter and X-wing toys. Wow!! What was that? As they filled me in, I realized they were talking about those commercials I had seen with that girl and boy swinging across some metalic pit. Obviously they had seen Star Wars, and being far more spoiled than I, they had managed to acquire the first set of spaceships released. Needles to say, I was hooked by their enthusiasm.

Later that day, not unlike this one, I was back home and at my dad's house, restricted to my room for something I can't remember doing, when my dad came in to inform me that we would be going to the "show" that night but I had better be good. So there I was, with my cousins (my dad's best friend was my uncle) in the back of uncle Jerrys work truck at the Tucson 5 Drive-In (Now the Century Park multiplex) watching Star Wars. My life was never the same.

I've spent the most of it (and certainly the best memories) here in Arizona. I hope to bore many of you with them in the days (or years?) to come.

Please drop by with your own too!
