The Power of Love
Greetings Bloggers

"Just help me save Padmé's life. I can't live without her."
- Anakin Skywalker to Palpatine in EpIII

Love is a powerful force in the GFFA, it has the strength to unite, yet can curse with death. However you see it, Love has been there for the beginning and has driven the emotionally hitting saga into what it is today.

The Jedi Order discourages love, you can go as far to say that they forbid it. For the use of emotion can realisticly change the course of history, for better or worse. The use of passion and love can alter a jedi's resolve and corrupt it drastically, Anakin was a product of this very theory and it let him into submission, a hero, tradically fallen to the dark side for the one he cherished and couldnt bear to loose.

Sure love was forbidden as a Jedi, but they were not immune from feeling, as it was always there, for love is natural of a human, it is natural of all beings and all beings embrace their love for one another and do not have to strike the fear of suppressing their emotions and loosing them forever, like a Jedi must do in order to stray from the dark side and its alluring temptations.

Unfortunately, Padmé was this "alluring temptation", and the role of love is stricken right into the beginning of TPM, when Anakin, the young and innocent slave worker, dreaming ideals of space wars, heroes, fighting the bad guys met his eyes upon an "Angel", or more presicely Padmé, and from here on they were doomed. Throughout the 6movies, we feel the compassionate bond between the two lovers, both driven by uncontrolable lust and perhaps fuelled by the thrill of defience to break free of the shackles which held apart and doing so they became closer as their love develops there tradgic story is told on the very fear to loose one another. So Anakin treads into dangerous territories.

During all this of course, the Chancellor plays on this roar power of passion between them both and Anakin's love for Padme becomes the pivot point for Sidious' plans and the secret they both shared and dubbed "A Blessing", would play a sinister part into the couples own tradgic end, but the fateful rise of a new hope.

Then came the Precognition of the future, the nightmare of Padmé who dies in child birth, and instantly those inklings of fear of loosing Padmé escalate and once more the same culprit: Love which inadvertantly steers Anakin closer into the arms of Palpatine, and so Anakins tradgic descent plummets to his fatal end.

The first step into his fall begins - Temptation arose, after Palpatine instructed Anakin in the Legend of Darth Plageuis, Anakin would do anything to save him, but facedwith the perilous choice of leaving all he has learnt and known as a jedi, to take upon a darker approach, and so comes his second step into his fall - Imperilment, to make the deicison, yet in these cases Anakin did not make a decision, but Love did. As I said earlier emotions can affect a Jedi's judgment for better or for worse. In this case for worst and his love for Padmé notably grows so much deeper and stronger..yet darker. His raw devotion to saving his lovers life inevitablly throws him into submission to Palpatines teachings the 3rd step into the shadows into which he has surrendered himself to the power of the darkside and in turn hopes to save his one love. Poor Anakin didnt know what he was getting himself into.

That fatal scene in Palpatine's office is one of the most hitting parts of the Saga. Anakins pledge to serve Sidious, marks a turning point in the saga, as Anakin is ever more scared to loose his love.

Which brings me to the final part. Upon Mustafar, Padmé driven by worry and fuelled by sorrow, follows Anakin to the Volcanic Moon. You can see, somehow you know; that Padmé already knows the truth, as it is only to clear and she hopes to confront Anakin for the very same reasons Anakin does. Padmé fears she has lost Anakin to the Sith which mustbe tearing a wound in her heart. Which has concluded my point as there love is connected so strongly as they both wont dare to let go fearing that they will slip away and be lost forever.

"Let go of her Anakin!"
- Obi-wan to Anakin, whilst Anakin holds Padme in a Force Choke

It is to late. Anakin feels she has lost Padmé, that she and Kenobi have gone against him, but his love for Padmé still remains and Anakin clutches onto her not wanting to let go, Anakin is afraid to let go of all he fears to lose, and all he loves. A Denial of the truth, that they have already lost each other

So you see, behind the movies, behind the Force, the Jedi, the Sith and Anakin and Padmé's relationship, from the start until the end, love has been manipulating the course of events. It just shows how powerful love can really be. At once it could be your greatest ally then at times it can be so much more of a greater enemy. It has the power to change lifes and fates of the galaxy

Interesting blog.

Love drove Anakin to the dark side, but on the other hand, Luke's love for his father allowed him to bring Vader back to the light side. It sorta proves Padme's joke when she says, "So love has blinded you?" Indeed it had.

from the start until the end, love has been manipulating the course of events.

You mean that the true mastermind wasn't Palpatine, but it was love?! ;)

MTFBWY! God bless!

Precisely, love the exact leverage Palpatine needed to form the basis of his new Sith Empire. For what would of Palpatine achieved if love wasnt in place manipulting and stimulanting the relationship.

Sidious has nothing on Love ;)

The only catch is love also cares about what the person being loved wants. Somehow Anakin forgot that until Luke reminded him. Palpatine brought Anakin's downfall by stoking his FEAR of losing that love. Ironically if it weren't the for the fear he probably wouldn't have lost them.

It seems love and fear always find a way to bite you on the ###.

Ironically also, Love played a crucial part in Vaders redemption for without any family fies or relations vader would not of had the strength to break free from the darkness he succumbed too.
