How much of Qui-Gon & himself did Obi-Wan see in Anakin Anakin Skywalker was reckless. He was good at "thinking on his feet". The decisions he made were not always the best ones for the situation he was in. He looked upon Obi-Wan as a mentor,friend,father, and brother.
