Whew - my last blog entry was on my birthday in July. How time flies!
As I'm sure in everyone's life, the ebb and flow of things can get pretty erratic, and I haven't been able to keep in touch on the blogs, but I tells ya - the last couple of days that I've been back around have been very theraputic for me! So, I decided to write one myself.
I'd like to share some cool stuff I've gotten lately!
The coolest by far has got to be my two
Star Wars books...in
French!! My dear friend
Anakinside1 recently went to Paris with her hubby, and graciously brought me the two books back as a souvenir. I spent two years of my college career as a French major, and had always loved the language and culture of France. So, combining that with my love of SW couldn't get any better for me!
There are some very interesting things within the pages. For instance, Han is "translated" as
"Yan". Darth Vader is
Dark Vador. I can understand these changes, with the phonetics of the language, but I can't quite figure out why C3PO is "translated" as
Z6PO!?
At any rate, the books are so cool.
Medical Droids, The
opening crawl of AOTC, the
scenes from Naboo...all are so fun to spend time reading and brushing up on my Francais!
THANKS AGAIN, AS1 !!!
After that, I was inspired to watch ROTS in French. It was amusing to hear Grievous speaking French!
Also, one day last summer, AS1 and I hit a flea market and this really cool collectible store near her house. I picked up two
car fresheners, a bunch of other stuff, like TPM bouncy-balls for the padawans, a
decal for my car (I chose purple because it's the school color of the high school where I teach), and some Dath Maul stuff for my niece. I also found a really awesome Yoda fortune-telling thingy. It works like one of those 8-Ball things. It's sitting on my desk at school, so I don't have a pic of that one.
At the flea market, I absolutely fell in love with a huge Han on Tauntaun figure, but they wanted $150 for it *gulp*! Lo-and-behold I found an almost-mint one on eBay for
much cheaper, and I
snagged it right away! I was so excited to get this one!
My other fun find was at a craft store - this
Vader sucker-twirler
I just love it!
Other than that, my recent adventures have included starting my Aayla Secura costume for admission to the Rebel Legion. I was inspired to pursue this by my other dear friend,
PadmeSkywalker77. Although I could never hope to parallel her skills, I hope my first attempt will be successful! I've goten the
inner and outer tops done, but I need to do some modifications to make them just right. Next is the lekku...wish me luck!
MTFBWY...always!
Au revoir!
