"He's never seen Star Wars"
On May 25, 2007, I read an article about someone who had never seen Star Wars - the original episode released in 1977. I was not surprised to read this, so I looked for other articles on people who have never seen it. Apparently there are many which is very surprising to me considering how the movie has influenced the movie-making busines.

In my own world, I know of three people who have never seen Star Wars Episode IV. One of them is the love of my life, my husband. The other two happen to be his parents. My in-laws really have no interest in seeing any of the movies, even though their grandsons love the movies. My husband has tried to watch the movie twice. The first time he tried, he was a teenager. He was visiting cousins who wanted to see it, so he went along. They were late, so they stood in the back. He remembers that he walked in and out of the room to sit on one of the benches because the movie was boring. The second time he tried was 20 years later for the re-release of Episode IV in 1997. I made him come with me. Not long after the movie started, he fell asleep. I am not sure what scene it was, because I was so engrossed with the movie.

I have watched the VHS tapes and DVDs so many times, but never has he sat down to watch. Although he may never see the movies, he understands my love them. For instance, I won a Celebration IV C-3PO and R2D2 figure through the local newspaper. I wanted to pick up the toy before the weekend, but I had to work. So, he took time from his day to get the figures for me. He loves me, which is more important than whether or not he's seen Star Wars.

After he went to bed on May 25, 2007, I put in the Special Edition Star Wars Episode IV DVD into the DVD player and watched it.

My ex-boyfriend had absolutely no interest in star wars. He was like your hubby...tried to watch it and fell asleep when he was a kid. He refused to watch it ever since...and I couldn't even talk about it around him. And, if I talked about it with someone else he'd leave the room. It was so frustrating :(

...then again he hated everything in the world, except for football and hamburgers...
he was just that narrow-minded.
Ah, well.
To each their own. ;)

My brother's Ex-GF, now just friend (I think..it's hard to tell with those 2)...has never seen any of the films. Atleast I don't think she has. My brother and I plan on getting her to watch it sometime.

Well, doc, you see I have this pain... Sorry, I didn't mean to say that, it just came out.:p
Okay, I'll start again.
Well, doc4, I understand your pain. My hubby doesn't get SW either. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE!!!! I took him to ESB and he yawned through the whole thing!!My Dad took me to ANH, but I've never discussed Star Wars with him because he can't remember most of the movie!! My two boys were my only hope and boy did they pull through for me--they share my passion, and borderline obsession for a galaxy far, far, away. Even though they provide excellent SW conversation sometimes I want more, even though I know I shouldn't and that's were the SWBlog world comes in. I love it here. :D

I have a few friends who have never seen Star Wars, and couple of family members too. I think that they would like it if they gave it a chance, but they refuse to watch. Most of them think of Star Wars as just another Sci-Fi movie, and don't understand that it has a great plot, lovable characters, and everything else that a good movie needs.

Welcome to the blogs! This was a great first entry!:)

My wife hadn't seen any of the films until we met, and we had a SW marathon of the OT and Ep I, then saw Ep II and Ep III in the theatre together. Not that she's a huge fan like me, but she supports my fandom all the way!
Good entry, and welcome to the blogs!

Stooge: Thanks for seeing that Love is more important than SW

Darth_Harim: it's good that spouses support our fandom

Yodette_Yodile: I do hope there's someone that will at least listen when you talk about SW. If I try to include real-life themes that can be discussed through SW in the conversation, then he sometimes doesn't leave the room

Sam The Smuggler: good luck with this girl

Merryman-Lyon: thank you for your comments - it's rather strange that my husband enjoyed Harry Potter OOTP. He thought the last 4 movies were confusing/boring at times, but then HP started as books & not as a movie (he's never read the books)

joejedi92: I guess it would be hard to watch it when your name is Luke. Maybe the fact that some fans were comparing Bush Jr. to Palpy could get him to watch the movies.

ketal13: as your sons get older maybe they'll write school essays about SW
