Who Am I?

Star Wars Faux Pax
I confused Jango Fett with a Clone Trooper in front of other members of the MidWest Garrison and the MidWest Base.

OMG! I wanted to jump into a Sarlaac's Pit and unlike Boba never get out.

I am hoping only a few people heard me say it, because no one teased me about it or made me feel stupid - I already felt stupid. I realized my mistake when someone I respect in the group said that he was glad to see that Jango Fett was being represented for the event. Maybe it was his kind way to correct me without embarrassing me.

I made it through the rest of evening alright, but I think I may just stick to my book club for awhile. Since the next book to discuss is Karen Traviss's Republic Commando: True Colors, I will never confuse Jango ever again.

So, like a little kid I was trying to think of excuses on how I could make such a terrible mistake in the Star Wars World.

1) I was tired. I had been up very early in the morning to go shopping for Star Wars collectibles at the County Toy Fair with my friends.
2) I was nervous. I have so much respect for the members of the MWG and MWB that my nervousness screwed up my brain waves.
3) I was dehydrated and hungry...

Well, as usual, excuses are lame: Any excuse is no excuse. So, now maybe this mistake isn't such a big deal because

1) No one was hurt. Being in medicine, my mistakes can keep someone from getting the correct treatment.
2) Non-star wars fans still love me for who I am. My family still loves me, and they probably would never have heard of Jango Fett or a Clone Trooper
3) I did learn the differences between Jango Fett and a Clone Trooper.

At a minimum, I can at least feel good that I know the difference between Star Wars and Star Trek.

Have you ever said anything stupid about Star Wars and embarrassed yourself?

EDIT: I think we all can feel good that none of us here would ever confuse Vader with a Tie Pilot. I have witnessed that many times. Every Tie Pilot costumer will tell you there will always be someone in the crowd that will point at them and say, "Look, there's Darth Vader." Fortunately, we just gently correct them so we never lose a possible future fan...

Never!

Well... ok, maybe a few times...

...it's the ones where you just plain misspeak that are the worst.

I don't think it was that big of a deal. They are "related" anyway.

Thanks, Spock. It is nice to know that as a fan I am not the only one who will misspeak.

FAN4YRS, thanks. They are "related" and the colors can be similar depending upon the Clone Trooper. I am not sure how big a deal it is with some fans. Some costumers are very serious - I think. The people I respect and love being around are the ones who take it seriously enough to be sure the costumes are correctly made, but still have fun with it.

Don't worry, costumers get that sort of thing all the time...

"What are you supposed to be?"

"I'm a Jedi."

"Why do you have a cell phone?"

Are you my grandma. She goes through my whole family dogs and cats included and when she reaches my name she keeps on going.

Thanks, Granny-Wan. The cell phone question is funny!

Zach, ? I am a bit confused unless you are talking to Granny-Wan...
