 | The invitation |
So, in 2003 I'd promised myself that I'd make it to the set somehow. I mentioned this to Fred the butcher, Ted the barber, and even Red the baker. Basically, I told anyone who listened.
One day I met a woman called Patty. I told Patty, thinking nothing of it, and she told me that she might actually know someone.
Well, nothing seemed to come of it.
And then, on my birthday in June, Patty dropped by with a gift (a Vader T-shirt) and a letter.
The letter had the LFL letterhead.
It was signed by Lynne Hale.
It was inviting me to the set of Episode III on the 18th of July, and wishing me a happy birthday. The T-shirt was from them.
Now, was I invited because I had "connections"? No. I'm not sure of the details, and I wouldn't say anyway. Just know that Lynne, George, Lisa (see future entries), Patty, and everyone else who made it happen give me new hope in humanity.
Pablo or Lynne: if you ever read this. thanks again.
Next: the arrival.
