Here goes my first blog! Please bear with me, and be sure to read the others!
It used to be perfect. That resounding voice, that haunting black outfit reflecting the blackness of his heart, and that horrible, evocative breathing that never seemed to end, and always acted as a pillar of certain doom. Darth Vader was the perfect villan, twisted and evil...
Until he became that cute slave kid. And then that nice-looking mommy's boy with a soft heart and some severe self-esteem issues.
Then, one by one, everbody we THOUGHT we knew became similiarly conflicted. Now, Boba Fett, the unstoppable and vile machine with no face, has a granddaughter, a wife, and a sad life. Obi-Wan, the textbook Jedi with no flaws, left the Jedi Order and fell in love, and almost didn't get chosen as a Padawan at all. Watto the junk fealer, that accessory to enslavery, was sad to see Anakin leave, and Luke, from whom we first experienced the Force, TURNED TO THE DARK SIDE.
So, I guess the only person we have left that's pure evil is Palpatine.
But we haven't heard his whole childhood story yet. Maybe he grew up on Manaan where he was the only one who wasn't a Selkath, and, in his confusion, was taken by Darth Plaguesis. Or maybe not.
This is just another example of why Star Wars is forever, and such a profound story. Because it's about everybody. We all have someone to relate to, and nobody is just BAD or GOOD. We're all Jar Jars, and Obi-Wans, and Anakins, and Hans, and maybe a couple of Padmes and Wattos thrown in. And even Palpatines.
