I drive down the street my home is on. It's crowded, as usual, being in the downtown of a large city. Everything is the same as it was earlier that day- the piles of dark, dirty snow, people crossing the streets and walking into or out of stores. I reach my home when suddenly, I notice something out of place. It is a small detail, something one would probably not notice if driving by, but a detail nonetheless. The USPS mailbox right next to my home is no longer a simple mailbox. It's my favorite droid from a galaxy far, far away.
There was R2-D2 sitting right next to my home.
I grinned- I had read about the new R2 mailboxes on theforce.net, and I intended to keep my out for one so that I could have a picture of a local droid, but the fact that one out of four-hundred 'units' was right next to my home amazed me. And so, I had a new neighbor. First thing was first, though: Pictures. One picture of every side of R2 was taken, followed by one with me for the memory.
So now, every time I leave home to go somewhere, whether it be work or the grocery store, I look at my personal astrometch droid with a grin. And although he doesn't fly or fix things, beep or whistle, he still seems like R2-D2 to me.
By the way... (I hope I'm doing this right)... please check out my Star Wars board! It's any Star Wars fan's dream:
