My Celebration IV Experience
I've been so busy since Thursday that I didn't feel like updating my page. Each day I'd get back from the convention and practically crash out, but here is a run down on what I saw.

Day 1 Thursday May 24th...

I woke up pretty early because I was going to Grandpa's and he was going to take me down to Los Angeles to check into my hotel. The trip down was not hard at all, and ended up at the Wilshire Grand in about an hour. I got checked in, got my fridge in my room and packed my food for the next 5 days before I headed down to the Convention Center.

I ended up at the Convention Center at around 1:30pm and got right in without a problem. No line or anything today.

The first thing I went to was the Celebration IV store to get my exclusives and see what else they had for sale. There was a little surprise for us Club Members in the fact that we could purchase 5 exclusive figures, rather then the 4 that I was told we could only buy. I got my 5 Exclusives, and a Celebration 4 T-shirt and headed out of the store.

After that I went to the exhibit to check out all the dealers booths and the companies that showed up for the event. Hasbro's booth was really cool, but crowded. Everyone was there trying to get their exclusive Luke figure, so I didn't look at much. The Gentle Giant booth was awesome with a giant Jabba The Hutt statue and a bunch of other statues that resembled some of the collection that they sell. Sideshow Collectables was really nice and had a lot of interesting sculptures on display. Around the area, where dealers like Brian's Toys, Cloud City Collectibles and other dealers. I didn't buy anything, not a good idea to buy on the first day.

I then roamed my way to the back and found the Autograph Hall and decided it was time to get my figures signed. I had my Aayla Secure, Boba Fett, and Darth Maul figures to get signed. So I went looking for Amy Allen, Jeremy Belloch and Ray Park. Getting their autographs was not hard at all and got to talk to them for a few minutes, as well as get my picture taken with each one. Amy Allen was of course, stunning as she was at Celebration III, so I was pretty happy.

At this time it was starting to get late, and I don't really like the downtown area and wanted to get back to my hotel before it got to late, so I called it a day and headed back to my room.

Day 2, Friday May 25th... The Anniversary of Star Wars: A New Hope release

I decided to try the shuttle bus today and see how that works. The shuttle was pretty crowded and I had the fortunate luck of sitting next to a guy dressed as Boba Fett. His costume was the most realistic costume I had ever seen of Boba Fett. It was pretty flipping awesome and would love to have done it again.

Once I got to the convention center I went straight to the Petree Stage to check out the One Man Star Wars Trilogy show. While I was in line I talked to a guy that said he founded Wookiepedia, which is a database for Star Wars information that mimics the Wikipedia web sight. I kind of felt he was full of ####, but that does not matter. Anyway, if you are a star wars fan and have not seen this show you need to see it. Charles Ross does the entire original trilogy on stage all alone. He does all the voices, sound effects, and music and adds in a very funny comedy feel to the entire thing. I laughed so much it hurt. It was a great time and a great official start to the convention for me.

After the One Man Star Wars Trilogy show, I went to catch the preview for The Force Unleashed. The new LucasArt's new next generation video game. They had a large panel that also included two of the actors that are voicing and acting the roles of the two main characters in the game. There was also a behind the scenes documentary shown on the big screen for all of us to get a good preview of what the game is going to be like and about. The main information that I got out of the documentary where flashes of the game script that showed lines for Princess Leia and also R2-D2. The game is suppose to take place between episodes 3 and 4, so that mean during the JedI Purge. Another release was the main character that the player will be controlling is the secret apprentice of Darth Vader himself. As the name of the game implies, you will Unleash the force in ways that has never been done. Haden Blackman, the games director and writer, explained the force using in the game as your character being a virtual wrecking ball of power. You throw a character across the area, they will also crash threw anything that is behind them. Lucas is also adding in new graphic and physic engines that will be added to totally simulate real world activities. So nothing will happen the same way twice in the game. It's all pretty nerdy, but I love it and it'll be something that is worth keeping my PS3 for, FINALLY lol

After the Force Unleashed preview, I went into wander mode. I walked around the Exhibit Hall again, checking out all the goodies that are for sale, and then make sure I got my Brother's autograph on his Darth Vader figure by David Prowess.

After that I just walked around the fan area and checked out the clubs. I wish there was a club close by my house so I could join up and get together with other Star Wars fans, but there isn't so I'll have to find something else to involve my time into. Well, actually, what I've been thinking of is joining the Rebel Legion that spans the world. I wont get into that, but it would be just totally cool to get involved in stuff like that.

After all this, I went back to my room and relaxed. I was still a bit uncomfortable being in Downtown LA alone, so I made it a point to head back to my room before 5.

Day 3, Saturday May 26th...

The 3rd day I wanted to get up early and to the convention center because my Brother and his Wife were meeting me to hang out. I had not hung out with anyone since I got to the convention center so I was really looking forward to this. This was the first day that I had gotten to the convention center before 10am and there was a lot of people. I kind of expected it and a lot of the costume fans where playing crowd control.

Just before the 10am opening of the convention a large group of guys dressed as Stormtroopers came out and marched around, forming a large circle in the courtyard in front of where I was standing on a concrete sitting area. Suddenly, a heard this really loud noise, like a gas line blew and all this compressed air was being released. Then suddenly I see a guy flying in the air dressed as Boba Fett, flying with a jet pack flying over the trees and around the crowd. He then flew down and landed in the center of the group of Stormtroopers and that was the official opening of the convention that day.

I started to move into the convention center and found Chris and Amy almost right off the bat. It was cool, so we went on and enjoyed the day. I took them to see the One Man Star Wars Trilogy and laughed with Chris as we enjoyed the comedy. Amy was kind of lost, but she said she still enjoyed it. After that we walked around the convention center and I showed them the exhibit hall and all the stuff that you could buy and check out. Then showed them through the autograph hall and pointed out all the actors and actresses to them...including Amy Allen (drool). We then walked around some more and took pictures of all kinds of stuff. My favorite picture was with Amy and the Stormtrooper. The trooper gave Amy his gun and she acted like she was blasting the crap out of him. It was great fun.

I then saw that the Hasbro booth was not very crowded so I walked up, assuming that they had sold out of all the Luke Skywalker Exclusive figure, but found out they had a bunch. So I bought 2 and Chris bought 1. After that Chris wanted to get a poster and selected a really nice Boba Fett painting. He then went on and got it autographed by Jeremy Belloch and also got his picture taken with him. He was jazzed and I'm glad he did all this. I was afraid that if he didn't get at least one autograph personally, he would regret it. Not a better person then Jeremy Beloch to get an autograph from. He's a super guy.

After that, Chris and Amy started to get tired, so I asked them to give me a ride back to my hotel and they did. It was the best time of the convention and I wish that they could have gone more days with me, or stayed with me. It was awesome. We all made a pact that the next time we went to a convention we would dress up. I really want to dress up at a convention, and soon.

Day 4 Sunday, May 27th...

This was the day that the convention was going to host the sneak preview for the bran new Star Wars Clone Wars animated show. I got in line early and sat reading my book waiting for the doors to open. I got into some small conversations with people around me, and found out that some people where from Canada, and Germany.

When the doors opened for the convention to start on this day, I took a straight path to get into line for the Animated series preview, and got in on the first of the 3 panels. I would soon come to find out that this was the biggest thing in the convention.

The Producer and Art director for the animated series came out and talked a lot about the animation process and why they chose the TV show to go into the 3d animation direction. There was also shown a behind the scenes video of all the people who are working on the project including George Lucas who we found out is over seeing every aspect of the show and making sure it fits into the Star Wars setting.

During the Q&A portion of the show, I found out that the show would air in 2008, so we have to wait another year in order to see this show. We have not seen anything else, but stills and concept art for the show, and some bits of information. After a few questions, we were then told that George Lucas had a meeting with the staff before they left for the convention, and said that he did not want anything shown to the public at this time. I got really bummed out by this because why would they do all this hype and then not deliver a scene or anything that is done. Well the crowd got bummed out, but then a shred of hope. The producer stood up and said, "But..." and then started to tell us that George had called a couple nights ago and approved that they could show some of the finished scenes in the show. The crowd went nuts and then we were told that the animation staff had stayed up till 2am to cut a trailer for us to see and that is when they showed it.

It was just like the preview to Episode 3 that I saw at Celebration III. The crowed went NUTSO and we all yelled and screamed and cheered like lunatics. We were the first 900 people to ever see this footage and it was outstanding. To wet our appetites even more, they played it a second time. And it was just as good the second time as it was the first. Well, I could tell you about it, but why don't you just go to www.starwars.com and check it out

That was clearly the Star Wars highlight of the convention for me. Some small bits of info about the show...It's going to be in High Definition, for the older crowd, not a kids show, and will take place between Episodes 2 and 3 and will be shown in continuity format.

Aside from wanting to get back in line to check out the animated series trailer again, I went on to get my clone wars dvd case signed. So that's where I went next. I enjoyed talking to Mark Lucas, who voiced Anakin Skywalker in the clone wars cartoon series., he's an awesome guy. I had the free poster that was given out when I went into the preview of the Animated Clone Wars series, and it turned into a great conversation starter with a few of the actors in the area. So I told them all about what I saw and how stunning the animation is. Grey DeLisle, who voiced Padme and Asajj Ventress in the clone wars cartoon told me that she auditioned for the Padme voice in the Clone Wars animated series that's coming out in 2008. I hope she gets it, and almost had her sign my preview poster just incase she got the part and I would end up with an advance autograph. She was very awesome to talk to.

Of course, each time I would go into the exhibit area, I had to brows around for any new goodies or something that maybe I missed. There was a very stunning girl working at the Sideshow Collectables booth and was taken back by her. So I had to speak to her, say hi, whatever, but that was about it. I was not after anything, she just caught me off guard and had to say something. She was very kind and nice and we talked for a while.

Day 5, Monday, May 28th...

Ok I'm ready to head on home, but I got one more day to see if there was anything I had missed. There was not a whole lot going on, on the last day of the convention, but the dealers inside the exhibit hall where going crazy trying to mark down stuff and try to sell it all so they did not have to take it all home with them. I thought it was cool, but didn't see anything I wanted.

Like everyday, I took pictures of stuff, but the costumed fans where in short number today. I assumed that most of them left today, and I kind of wish I had also. I think I've had enough Star Wars for a while, but the experience will stay with me for a long time. Just a few weeks ago, Elizabeth and I were talking about our experience at Celebration III and that was 2 years ago. I promised myself, if there is a Celebration V that we are going together because I don't want to do it alone again. It was fun, but lonely. Now I'm kind of got my eye on International Comic Con in San Diego, but that probably wont happen because this trip exhausted me and I think that my next vacation is going to be a trip to hang out with my family and brothers and have a blast playing games and doing cool stuff with them.

This has been a great experience, and everyone who is a strong fan of star wars should really look into going to the next convention that is dedicated to Star Wars. I'm thinking 2 years and the corner stone to the show will be the Star Wars Live Action TV Series, which is going to be the most anticipated hour long TV show. I placed most of my photos on my myspace page at... CLICK

I have a lot more and hope to have the up soon :)
