Scrolling down the FF, I noticed that Wari had posted a
question regarding the
HS Webcam Chat Party.
Wari writes:
I tried reading some of the posts in that thread to gadge what it is all about. However the introduction of the thread explains nothing an the following 8,ooo posts after that are basically filled with people saying Hi to each other. What is this thread? Do you need a webCam? Everyone there seems to have met in person. What is WebCam ChatParty 59 ??
Master Mike responds:
Those threads are for the discussion of the Hyperspace web cam in a chat style manner. But if there's nothing on the web cam, it's still being used, so basically it's a chat thread.
MM is correct, of course, it is -- especially these days -- "basically a chat thread." But, I think there is more that should be said in response to Wari's observation that "Everyone there seems to have met in person."
At
C3 a number of us did indeed meet.
AZ, Bspace, Dantee, DBM, Ehope, Erel, JM, KDY, Obi, ObiGlenn, Pragar, PS1, P2, Tari, our Mod,Tosche, Yoda and I either flew in or drove in from all around the States, Australia and Tazmania to meet and experience C3 together. For all of us, this was an opportunity of a lifetime. We were thrilled to instantly add to our number Amy, Daniel, Josh, Juli, Kim and Sarah. Our only regret was that all of "the cammers" couldn't attend.
So what Wari observed is literally true for some of us. But, what I am here to state is what Wari observed is virtually true for all of us.
Through the hours of squinting at blurry webcam images marveling at what we saw or
thought we saw; laughing over the "Bike Guy," mock fights and magical cheese; drooling over "Script Girl," NP, HC and EM; and, experiencing the thrill of an around the world wave -- we met.
Through the hours of geeking out over new releases and giggling over Jawa lawyers, Darth Tater (we thought of him first), the Death Tot and the wonder of plaid -- we met.
Through the hours of gathering around those in need of a blanky, a hug, a baby Wookiee or a listening ear -- we met.
So...yes, what Wari observed is very true.
Everyone there has met in person...
...from more than one point of view.
A fact for which I am very thankful.
