Anakin Skywalker: 9 Year Old Jerk
There's a moment in Phantom Menace that has always puzzled me. Anakin and Padme have just met, and they're having a nice discussion about angels or whatever.

Anakin says: My mom and I were sold to Gardulla the Hutt, but she lost us, betting on the pod races.

Padme replies: You're a slave?

So far, perfectly logical. Anakin says he and his mom were SOLD, indicating that they're owned by someone else. Padme tries to confirm this...

Then the little brat gets all torqued out of shape...

Anakin: I'm a person, and my name is Anakin!

WTF!

Luckily he was talking to gracious and patient Padme (who actually apologizes to him) and not me, or I woulda slapped his insolent mug off the junk-shop counter. "Chosen One, my ###! Cmere ya little runt!"

WHY does Anakin get so annoyed when Padme asks a perfectly reasonable question? It'd be like if you said, "Oh C-3PO, are you a droid?" And he said "WHHHAT?! HOW DARE YOU! I AM A PROTOCOL ... er... droid... yes, I guess you're right."

What really makes this worse is that Anakin refers to himself as a slave later on. "All slaves have a transmitter placed inside their bodies somewhere."

Again, lucky for him, Padme declines to comment on his double-standard.

Maybe some of you can help me? Why does Anakin get so cheesed off? Whatsamatta little man, you diaper full of poopy?

All answers appreciated.
