This isn't a typical Star Wars-based blog, but an interesting one I thought I'd share nonetheless.
As some of you know, I currently work at DFW Airport doing IT work. The company I work for,
Arinc, has most of our work at the new international
terminal. Recently we have begun work at one of the older terminals, E. Well, we were commissioned by the IT dept to use one of the comm closets to store our equipment for the buildout: Keyboards with optical and mag stripe readers, boarding pass printers, Dell PCs and monitors,
Clearcube Blade PCs and their cages and other equipment that controls the flight displays and Samsung
400p monitors to show the flight data.
Around 3:30pm on Friday afternoon, rumors come in that a water main break had flooded part of the older terminal. Well, we were not aware of which closet flooded, if it was a storage closet or one with little equipment of ours. It turns out it was the room we used to store the equipment. The water line exceeded 3 ft, mud and chemically-treated water caked the room and all of the equipment. The sodium solution in the water had begun to corrode some of the PC equipment as of today.
So, anyone want some slightly damp, 40" LCDs?
