 | The Saga concludes |
This is it. 28 years in the waiting and we finally see the conclusion tonight. I have my tickets for the 12:01am showing @ the Cinemark Legacy in Plano, TX, the only DLP theater in the DFW Metroplex. I was at the same theater for Attack of the Clones, and if tonight is anything like 2002, I expect many many people in line, seeing that the show is sold out, there will be a packed house.
I can imagine they will let us in around 8pm as they did for AOTC, and the local DFW FanForce will hold contests or other activities while we wait. I will be attending w/ my roommate, who has never been to a midnight showing and I told him how they work, and he didn't seem all to impressed. Oh well, he chose to come along, I didn't make him.
As I harken back to my first visual experience of Star Wars, the TV spot for Empire Strikes Back in the spring of 80, I still recall my first viewing in a theater of ROTJ in a drive in. My first real experience came around summer of 1982 when I attended a garage sale and bought numerous figures and playsets thanks to my grandmother, many of which I still have. 1977 Boba Fett, anyone? Just kidding. I still have vivid memories around the time of ROTJ when I went to see The Dark Crystal for the local theater, the Forum 303 Mall, had a mural of Star Wars on an inside wall.
So, now, after 28 years; VHS, Laserdisc and DVD editions have culminated our minds. 2 Prequels have been released to chronicle the beginnings of the Empire and our favorite tragic hero, Darth Vader, we now see the final Star Wars film. It has been a long journey indeed.
