I got off work yesterday around 4pm and had to wait on roommate to meet me at a nearby gas station till 4:50. We finally head off to the Cinemark Legacy in Plano, TX from Irving. If anyone has driven DFW traffic, you will understand how treachorous of a journey this is. I had smooth sailing until I got to I-635 and was stuck in traffic travelling no faster than 20 mph in most places. Then, the journey onto I-75 was worse. We finally arrived at the theater @ 5:30. We get out tickets and get in line.
Within 20 minutes, they started to slowly allow us in the theater due to a possible chance of rain. Inside we waited while the 7:30 VIP showing occurred. Most of us stood around in the line, played Trivial Pursuit DVD edition or entertained and made new friends. Around 10:30 they let us into the DLP theater and we sat around chatting. Many people played around w/ their Force FX sabers, but the lowlight occurred w/ a heckler.
A man who we later learned represented a local radio station,
KISS 106.1 FM started heckling us and telling people about the film. He was escorted out by ushers and the manager said that the theater will express discontent w/ the station later today. DFW FanForce had some raffle activities but no one seemed really interested. The lights dimmed and the trailers for new films began; The Davinci Code, Fantastic Four, Batman Begins, Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Mr and Mrs Right, then soon the 20th Century Fox logo, followed by Lucasfilm appeared and the theater cheered.
We were all mesmerized throughout the screening, except that the sound was pretty off; only front channels right through the first 30 min or so. The sound corrected, but had odd placed echoes. Well, the movie ended around 2:30 or so and driving from Plano to South Grand Prairie was long and tiresome.
My work understood when I called in.
