 | My first blog.....HOORAY!!!! |
 Alright...here goes nothing...
This is really random, but I have always wondered..
In ROTS,on Mustafar, obi-wan and anakin are having their little "pre-fight talk" and anakin says that he " has brought peace, freedom, justice, and security" to his new empire.this is followed by obi's comment-"your new empire?"
Am i just imagining the sarcasm in his voice.....?
thanks for bearing with me and MTFBWY

First, welcome to the blogs.
Second, no, you're not imagining it. I think Obi gave him that sarcasm because the statement went against what Anakin said earlier in the film: The Sith think...about themselves, the Jedi only think about others. If Anakin were really think about everyone else it wouldn't be "his" new Empire.

Nope, I just watched ROTS a few days ago and noticed the same thing.

Welcome to the blogs!
I think that the sarcasm was because Obi-Wan knew that Palpatine was in charge. The Empire would be Palps', not Anakin's.

welcome!
its a good point you make; Anakin was moe or less deluding himself to his actual position in the Empire....he felt he was in command but really he was simply Palpatines lapdog.
and Obi Wan was indeed sarcastic and yes it was mixed with disbelief at how far his friend had fallen.
again, welcome to the blogs! good start!

Welcome to the blogs!
Obi-Wan was both sarcastic and dumbfounded that Anakin could say such a thing. He couldn't believe Anakin was headed down this path, and was a part of this new Empire. He was definitely shocked at Anakin's statement.

Hey! Welcome!
Yeah, he was sarcastic, with a hint of disbelief. Like Padmé, he couldn't believe what he was hearing. This wasn't his "friend" anymore.

Welcome to the blogs!!! About the sarcasm, I must echo indyStarWarsFan and DJ Maul!
...sounding like fools is what we do best here. Well maybe I should speak for myself.
Nah, you can speak for me too!
Happy blogging, and MTFBWY!

Welcome! Welcome! Welcome!
Sarcasm? Maybe. A tad.
I always took Obi-wan's tone to be one more of incredulity. "What do you mean your new empire?" meaning behind the tone. Anakin's way of thinking is totally skewed by this time, and, sadly, Obi-wan realizes it . . . and throws this back in Anakin's face.
The line in the sand has been drawn.
Again, welcome! And I look forward to reading more of your blogs!

Welcome, welcome, welcome!
I believe (like so many others before me) that there is definitely a bit of sarcasm in Obi-Wan's tone for that line.
