V for Vader
V, truly wonderful antihero/villain/hero... in the movie V for Vendetta..
Some themes of the movie struck a chord in me..and as always I apply them to the Star Wars Universe...aside from Natalie.
Darth Vader and V have many similarities.. besides both wearing black, masks, and being burnt..and having Natalie Portman as your girl..
V is one man that takes on the Evil Empire and its hierarchy of leadership and legions of henchmen..
Natalie is tortured/choked by both men..
Well, putting my Star Wars colored glasses on.. I can see Darth Vader/ Anakin Skywalker in the scenario. Stripped of his former life of as a Heroic Jedi, husband, father, and friend and betrayed by his mentor (Palpatine) he has become Darth Vader. With all the rage and hatred that Darth Vader emotes he hates himself, Obi Wan, and Darth Sidious..for what his life has become.
I believe Darth Vader is the ultimate "5th Column" insider into Palpatine's Empire acting as a double agent when necessary until the Bespin encounter with Luke in ESB when he begins his road to redemption.. "Join Me on the darkside and together we will rule the galaxy as father and son"..
In ROTJ, Vader redeems himself by saving Luke.. and ending the Emperor's Galactic Empire's Reign..
Ulitmately, Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker is the Chosen One who balances the force and defeats his own evil empire.
As V defeats the evil British empire...
Lots of similarities..
What do you think?

Interesting... and perhaps of further interest is that "V for Vendetta" author Alan Moore wrote some Star Wars comics early in his career.
