The Emotional Defeat of Darth Vader
Darth Vader..
Episode IV Darth Vader is the ultimate super villian who rules the galaxy with an iron fist.. Vader is loyal to the Emperor and the Sith..
Episode V, Darth Vader confronts his son Luke Skywalker..Suddenly, apart of his life he hasn't felt for 2o plus years comes back to him.. Darth Vader needs an apprentice to help rule the galaxy.. When Luke refuses to join the darkside.. I think Darth Vader sees himself in Luke. He sees the life he once and should have had as Anakin Skywalker, hero, husband, and father.. The change is internal.. I believe at the moment Luke drops into the abyss..Anakin Skywalker has returned..
Darth Vader's inner conflict now is to have Luke join him to rule the darkside.. or embrace the good and Jedi side of the force and reclaim his self and defeat the Emperor..
Luke just being there confronting Vader... defeated/changed Darth Vader ..Seeing his son in EP 5 and realizing his daughter helped Darth Vader.. fulfill his destiny/prophecy as the Chosen One..
The Last 2 Jedi.. No Sith.. force is balanced..prophecy fulfilled.. (misread it has been)..

That's a good theory. I can't say i think Anakin returned in that moment, because of everything he did between Empire and Return.
I think that Vader began hearing some of his conscience, maybe he began to rethink all his choices, second guesing what he said and did.
I think Anakin hadn't returned, and i think Vader/Anakin was still a sith, but i think Anakin was beginning to wake up, beginning to make Vader hear the lies Palpatine had put into his head sense they'd first met. The force wasn't balanced, but the balance was shifting in Luke's favore.
