Why We Fight
This past week I watched a movie "Why We Fight". And of course I have to relate it to Star Wars.
I always think of the Congress as kind and honest and work for the American people's best interest. I never thought of the USA as hard and tough. The US government and corporations are hard and expanding as rapidly as possible. The term industrial military complex (congress) refers to a small group that maintain the US as the World's Lone Superpower and since WWII has maintained and expanded its American Colonial Empire throughout the world.
Star Wars..
As you see Palpatine's rise to power throughout the Republic and eventually the Galactic Empire. He has help in the senate. He creates a war that neccesitates arms buildup and a standing army through his friends in the IMC Senate and his Sith alter ego creates the threat of the Separatist gives it legitimacy through Dooku. For peace and protection of the republic and her ideals creates the Grand Army of the Republic.
The Jedi are the last obstacle for peace and security of the republic.
The Jedi haven't changed their ways, but the Senate IMC and the republic have changed before the Jedi and Loyalists' eyes. Along comes an idealistic young man who wants peace and prosperity for his republic/empire and will stop at nothing or eliminate anyone who stands in the way of the Republic becoming the Empire and expanding peace and prosperity throughout the galaxy. The Empire's military superiority and super weapons intimidate "Separatist" systems to fall in line or be eliminated..flexing the new muscle of the Galactic Empire.
The Sith, Palpatine, and the infiltrated Senate have taken control of the galaxy.
Any thoughts?
