Celebration 4. Vista de Rojo
Hey SW Bloggers!
Rojo has finally returned home to Texas after a whirlwind 3 week Star Wars Celebration, work, and family vacation whirlwind...
First off I apologize for not being able to make the SW Blogger Social.. It really looked like a good time with cool SW folk.. and that is what I am all about..
Kudos to DJ Maul for organizing that cool event..I tried every chance I cold to get to the Fanfare room and the fan club lounge.
So onto the C4 Con Blog..
I left Houston on Wednesday and arrived in LA in the afternoon. Went down to the convention center to pick up my badge and goodies.. I see Ken "Elvis Trooper". Very Cool Guy..and some of the SW Artists picking up there stuff also.
Met up with some other volunteers to do some practice runs on the Kessel Run..Looked around the FanFare Hall where the Xwing was being assembled.. (It isn't a SW con without the X Wing).. walked around and met up with more friends to checkout the SW movie Marathon which was incredible.
Rojo's volunteer duty was in the Family Room/Art Room.. Which was very cool. Several of the talented SW Artists came to do demos for SW fans of all ages.. We had Lego SW on 40 in HD TVs.. dress up, lightsaber duels, 4 different guides art sections, face painting, caricuture artists and lots of stickers and padawan freebies..
One of my first labors of love was to help my talented team create the Bantha Tracks murals in the Fan Fare room. They had fan letters of all ages from the 70's to the present.. Some of the letters and pictures were heartfelt and other were funny..the fan art ranged from simple stick figures to future SW artists submissions.. I loved it.. It was a honor to be able to read through fellow SW Fans submissions. I loved the final outcome/project..
Most of the days in the family room little guys came in a colored or battled with lightsabers or plugged into Lego Star Wars.. Randy Martinez was a huge hit with the SW Families.. He is very talented and has a quick wit.. and kept kids and adults entertained.. He came almost everyday.. Fan Favorite:)
Jake Steel, Cynthia Cummens, Matt Busch, Bonnie Burton, Ken Steacy, Chris Alexander and crew ( hi Chris's mom), and the SW Pop up book guy.
Jay came into in Capt Typho gear to sing with the kids..(and his family) he really does have 8 kids:) lol.. He is very talented.. Thanks for hosting..
One of the nights I had the honor of serving cake to all the SW Fans at opening ceremony (and the LA Mayor and City Council).. It was a great time..I loved watching Steve Sansweet recreate the excitement and Star Wars Buzz over and over again..I loved the Leia Belly dancer and the Boba Fett JumpJet pilot very cool..
Some of the other fine volunteers in the Family Room were 501st members.. who invited me to the "StormTrooper Party".. which was a great time indeed.. Mary Franklin and Steve Sansweet and the other talented SW artists, authors, and celebrities were in attendance..
Met up with my friends for some birthday cake and had some great conversations that seemed to pick up where we had left off at c3..lol..
When I wasn't on duty in the Family room I was able to catch the costume contest (day 1), walk through the archives, Vader Helmet exhibit, exhbition hall, and just check out cool SW fans, and I loved hanging out in the Fan Club Lounge.. What a cool place that was.. Celebrities hangout,, Open bar.. it was very cool..
I hung out and spent lots of $$$ at the SW Art Show.. There were just so many great pieces of art.. Thanks to all the SW artists for amazing their amazing work.. I did my action figure shopping, and swag collecting.. (need some History Channel cards BTW)..
I checked out the Clone Wars Animated Trailer.. It looks amazing.. I am very happy about it.. Hung out with more friends..
I was able to meet Bonnie Piesse and Alan Ruscoe..in the FC room and check out the r2 builders room..
The week was over b4 it began... I had a great time..
