Ben's Gifts

This is kind of continuing DM's blog. I am fascinated by Owen, the droids, and Ben and the Truth..
What kind of movie would Star Wars, A New Hope have been if Ben had said.. "Well Luke, Your Father wanted you to have this when you were old enough.. BZZZZZZ! Cool, A lightsaber.. Yes, Luke, your father was holding that when I chopped his arms and legs off and left him on the side of a Lava river on Mustafar..before of course he force choked your mother and left her for dead..
I can see the rest of the conversation.. these droids also belong to you.. R2 and c3po given as gifts at a Secret Wedding Ceremony..and oh by the way that is your sister in the hologram and by the way has grown up with every luxury and privilege a young person can have..while you have toiled in poverty on the moisture farm..
Oh and right now your loving Uncle and Aunt are being mercilessly killed by a Garrison of Stormtroopers that were sent to kill you by your Father, who is now Darth Vader, a Sith Lord, who is torturing your sister at this moment..on the Death Star..did I mention Grandma Skywalker was killed by the Sandpeople..in this very hovel?
Would you like to join me on a trip to Alderaan just for s's and g's?
Strap on this Blast helmet while it shoots electric bolts at you..
Would you like some more blue milk to wash all that down?

OMG.. I think Luke would have used the lightsaber on himself..
What a nightmare!

Ben saved a life, the force, the jedi, a friend and vader.. with the veiled Sacred Skywalker Secret.. (the droids were pieces of the puzzle) not ready to be revealed..(Goldenrod could have blown the twins cover.. He knew to much) even keeping it from the Skywalkers themselves..
Ben used the old Force trick on C3po he couldn't translate R2 rebuttle of who really killed Anakin Skywalker?

Very true, if I were Luke and heard all of that, I'd use that saber on myself or just have been too shocked to say anything back to ol' Ben. Great blog by the way, I've thought the same thing many times over as now I've seen the new films with the old in order. It would have been way too much to take in, well at least without any jedi training like Yoda said in ESB. He just would not have been able to handle it. As for the C3PO thing, it doesn't fit 'cause Bail had his memory erased in ROTS.

date Posted: Feb 03, 2006 3:35 AM I don't think that R2 would have tattled. After all Bail only had C3PO's mind wiped, so clearly he trusted R2.

I was thinking the exact same thing Rojo Trooper. Actually I commented this on DM's blog the other day. Yes, Threepio's mind was wiped, but Artoo's was not, so if Threepio had been in the "on" position when Artoo made the rebutle after Ben's speech about what had happened to Luke's dear old dad, he would have certainly translated, like everywhere else in the saga. I don't think it was Ben through the force who made Threepio shut down. I was thinking that since this was the ONLY time in Star Wars history in which Threepio voluntarily shut down, then it was the will of the force itself and not Ben. Nice Blog

date Posted: Feb 03, 2006 3:08 PM I think that R2 units are soposed to have their memories wiped once a week. But after Luke owned R2-D2 he didn't have his mind eraced from what I know.
