The Dead Jedi Society
Come take a seat my friends, and let me tell you a story. This is a story about four friends, all with two commons loves, Star Wars and film making. But these friends went to a school that wasn't very excepting of things that were different. These kids, they were picked on all the time. Sure they had a lot of friends, but they also had a lot of enemies, all for one reason. They were different. People don't usually take kindly to other people who have different likes then they do, that's just, sadly, how some people are. But luckily, these kids had a teacher, a teacher who took a liking to this band of self-proclaimed "Super Nerds". This teacher, he helped the kids do something, something big. Something that changed thier whole school.

The band of kids was Me and my friends Corey, Jacob, and Collin. We were(and still are) the biggest bunch of nerds you could ever imagine. But at my school, that isn't always a good thing to be different. My school is full of a lot of really snobby kids, mean kids who are used to getting exactly what they want all the time. Kids like that don't usually like kids like us. They want you to conform to what they think is "cool"(sitting around, doing drugs, not caring and talking about how you hate your parents.Yea, real cool, eh?), and if you don't they're liable to turn nasty. So, one day, we decided we'd had it with all these kids picking on us just because of something we liked. What made us nerdier then the kids who knew every athelete's stats, just because we knew the name of every jedi in the order? Well, a lot of things, but that wasn't the point. So, we started using up our free periods in the Digital Video Productions department. We started to make a movie, a movie that would explain the everyday life of a nerd, and hopefully get these jerks off our backs. We called it "Saving Star Wars". It took us about a month, but we finally managed to complete it. We showed it to our teacher and he loved it. But, we still had one problem. How were we gonna release this to the population of our school. Well, a Film festival of course. The school happened to be hosting one a week or so after we'd finished the movie. Unfourtunately, I wasn't able to attend, but the rest of the guys were. According to them, the movie was HUGE. They even played it again at the end of the festival.

And the changes to my school? They were visible. Instead of trying to beat us up, kids were actually telling us that we'd done a good job, that they'd loved to movie. There were even kids who asked what order they should watch the movies in and had us recommending SW books that they should pick up. Of course, there are still the kids that like to make fun of us, but now there is a whole legion of fans at my school. And even if they didn't become fans, a lot of kids are just plain nicer now and don't make fun of anyone anymore. My whole school was changed for the better all because, as my friend likes to say, a jedi-nut(Jacob), a trekkie(Corey), a clone addict(Me) and a wookiee caller(Collin[ that itself deserves an entire blog]).

Well friends, that's the story. I hope you all enjoyed reading it, and I look forward to your comments.

May the Force be with You and Oya Manda!!]:)

That is quite an inspirational tale!
My congratulations to you and your crew for opening others' eyes and celebrating your love for the saga.
Any chance your film will get posted somewhere for the rest of us to see?

Congratulations!!! All of you sound like mature, smart young men. Yeah, high school can be rough, but trust me, someday all that bad stuff will be a distant, fuzzy memory. And remember, it is always better to take the high ground! ;)

Are you gonna provide a link to that film someday? I (and I'm sure others here, too) would like to see it!

That was a very smart move on your guy's part. A great way to handle the situation. Nice picture to match too.

Well, I'd love to upload it, but there is a HUGE problem with that. After we aired it at the festival it technically became the property of the school, and there is only one copy which now resides with the principle. We tried to get him to let us make copies, but he thought we were gonna sell them for a profit, so he wouldn't give it to us. So, we basically got shorted out of our movie, but one day my friends, we'll find a way. Dead Jedi's honor!

Good for you! As someone who was teased in school, I can relate to what you're going through. You found an original and creative way to "strike back".
