Killing Padme pt. 2
So, you came back. Excellent. And if you're new to my blog, welcome, and here's the link to part 1. As promised I will be delving into the other two theories on Padme's death that I have read a lot about in hopes of coming to a clear, logical answer for how she died.

So, on to our next theory: Anakin killed Padme when he force choked her and threw her to the ground, causing irrevocable damage.

I find this to be the most unlikely theory of them all simply because if he had caused physical damage, the droids working to rescue her during childbirth would have known what was wrong. So let's assume that it was not direct physical damage, but something Anakin unleashed upon her through the force in his anger.

Again, I find this improbable simply because Anakin cared very deeply for his wife, and I think that even on a subconcious level he could not have done anything to kill her. Admittedly, he was very upset and believed she had utterly betrayed him, but even in his rage I don't really believe he could have done it. He lost control and so he believed he could have killed her, but I don't think he would have let loose with anything he knew to be deadly.

So did Anakin do it? On this one I'm going to have to flat out say no, and I think most of you fans would agree with me. If not, feel free to comment and let me know your line of thought.

And now... the last theory: That the force itself took Padme's life.

Sounds a little strange, but let's really think about it. Everything in the prequel trilogy basically falls right into Palpatine's hands. Even things that he could not possibly have planned for (though I admit he was good at using things to his advantage) went in his favor. This, I believe, is because the entire underlying current in the SW saga is the force bringing itself back into balance, forcing its practicioners to respect it as they should rather than abusing it. So why then, if the force itself made all of this happen, wouldn't it take Padme's life? After all, if she had lived Anakin never would have become Vader and the force never would have found its balance without forcing Obi-Wan and Yoda into hiding. So the force had to take her life, much like God causing something to happen for his "mysterious ways".

So my thoughts on this theory? Extremely likely! As with everything, the force was the underlying current during her death and it once again used the situation to its advantage.

So here's my conclusion on how Padme actually died:

The force, working in its mysterious ways caused the events that lead to her demise. For its plans to work and for it to bring itself back into balance, Padme simply could not go on living. Thus, the force, like God in our world, created a reason for her to die, whether you believe it to be a broken heart, Palpatine, or Anakin's violence, and this is how I believe Lucas intended it.

He left it mysterious so people like us could slowly come to see his true vision of the force.

Until Next Time,
