Last night in a store
Last night the fam decided to run in to our local Meijer and grab some things for dinner tonight. Of course, I had to detour to the Star Wars section to see what was around.

As I popped in to the aisle, there was a lady on her cell phone and a smallish child (4 yrs old or so) just giggling his head off. I ventured in to look and see what's what.

As I looked through the pegs at the figures, the little boy came up and said, "I like Star Wars." Now this was stated not in the Christmas Story way of the kid who likes the Wizard of Oz, but rather like the Disney commercial where the little kid is exclaiming that he is too tired to sleep. I acknowledged his comment and said I liked it as well. Then he said, "I LOVE Star Wars!!! Do you love it too?" Again I agreed with him.

"I've seen all 10 of them!" he exclaimed with giggles of joy and laughter held in.

"Wow!" I said in return. "I've seen them all too. They're really cool."

"Yeah. They are the BEST!"

He reached down and grabbed the spring loaded Darth Vader saber that I Vlogged about the other day. He looked up and said, "Do you know Obi-Wan from the movies?"

"Yes," I said.

"Well I have his lightsaber like this at my dad's house. It is really cool!"

I looked at his mom, still talking on the phone, and showed her a $20 and then motioned to the saber. She nodded with a silent mouthed 'thank you'.

I already had my "Star Wars fund" with me so I parted with the cost of the saber and handed it to the boy who just about fell over. I can't be certain, but I'm sure the Vader saber was purchased. If not, then perhaps they used it for other needs.

This kid was just so hillarious (in a non funny way) to see him with his enthusiasm for the films. A giant fan at such a young age. I just got a warm feeling inside, went back over with my wife and daughter and retold the story. We all laughed and went about our boring business of finding food for this evening's company.

To a what? But whatever that is I have never been allowed to own a toy lightsaber of any kind. Much less any star wars collectibles besides books.

What a great story! I'm sure you made that kids day. I wish I had someone like you when I was younger... i love these kinds of stories though Thanks. That kind of mood doesn't always hit me (or I don't have the cash at the time) but when it does, I could just cry it makes me so happy. I think it all stems from being a kid and someone gave my mom money to buy me something because I was being such a good kid while shopping. I was just being me.

That's great of you! It's one thing to talk the talk, but you're REALLY sharing the saga with the next generation. I just hope the mother was observant enough to not wonder where he kid got the cash!
