For years I have always thought that Leia looked like Padme' and Luke looked like Anakin. If you watch the
3000 Anakins featurette on the Episode I DVD then you will learn that when casting director Robin Gurland was casting the part of Padme' she picked someone that looked like her, Natalie Portman. She did the same for finding someone to play Anakin, except he had to look like Mark Hamill. But that was for nine-year old Anakin, it's not anywhere on the Episode II DVD, but I'm not sure if she looked for the same qualities when finding a nineteen-year old Anakin. In my opinion, the new Anakin resembles Leia more than Luke, and Padme' and Luke share similar qualities. Let's look at a few:
Anakin and Leia
They both have longer faces and similar facial expressions. Their facial expressions tend to be made more with their eyes. A good example of this comes from
Return of the Jedi right after Luke tells Leia who his father is, she makes a face that looks nearly identical to some of Anakin's expressions in
Revenge of the Sith.
Padme' and Luke
What makes them alike mainly, is they have short rounder faces. They tend to make the same facial expressions: mouth slightly open and eyes wide, fixed on whatever it is they are looking at with the same look of bewilderment.
Their similarities are a lot easier to explain when actually watching
ROTJ rather than describing them in text, but I encourage you to view the movie again and note their likeness.
Something that both of the Skywalker twins missed out on was their father's height. I know they were premature, but it looks like inherited Padme's short and petite physique. I don't think that they were too premature because they weren't tiny babies, so maybe just a month premature?
What do you guys think, like mother like son and daughter like father?
