 | Clone Wars, does Lucasfilm not like us international fans ????? |
Hi all
Not been here in a long while.
I am very excited about the new Clone Wars Series, but very unhappy that I find I have no way of watching as I am a UK fan.
If you live in the US, you can view via Star Wars.com, cartoonnetwork.com and Itunes US.
In the UK, you can view by Sky Movies, Premier I think, and the fact is this is a very expensive channel!
My question is, are we UK and international fans going to get a chance to view Clone Wars.
Are the Itunes UK stores going to allow downloading of the Clone Wars. It seems that the way things are, can only increase the amount of illegal viewing.
Help us Lucasfilm, you are our only hope!

Hi there
yes, but technically that is illegal viewing. My point is why isn't this product being shown equally to all Star Wars fans.
Starwars.com is going on about how great the access is for fans to view, yet this is only for the US fans.
It is very frustrating, when I know if I lived in the US I could be downloading these legally and on to my ipod.
It feels like the international fans are being short changed to be honest

Yeah, it kinda stinks that international fans can't see the episodes.

It does stink to behonest.
If you don't live in the US, all ways of accessing Clone Wars are denied to you, it seems I am willing to give Lucasfilm my money, but they don't want it.

I agree, ironically we actually pay more for our membership.

I actually contacted apple, to ask about if we are to get the Clone Wars on Itunes. this was the reply I got
I understand you would like to know when the Star Wars Clone Wars will be available in the United Kingdom. I know how disappointing that must be and I will be happy to assist you today.
Thank you for your inquiry. I'm sorry, however I can't comment on rumors about decisions, products, programs, or promotions that Apple has not officially announced.
By withholding comment, Apple hopes to protect customers from making decisions based on information that is incomplete, inaccurate, or subject to change before the formal announcement. Apple believes this is the best way to ensure that all customers are treated fairly.

You're lucky to live in one of the larger European countries. We in Iceland and Scandinavia don't have any channels that show it and thus can't see them through legal (US legal) ways. Fans in many other countries will also be left out.

Where it airs is determined whether or not a broadcaster in a particular territory has picked up the show. Likewise, StarWars.com has to respect the territory of international broadcasters who did pick up the show, which is why access is limited as to who sees what online. It's not a satisfactory answer, I know, but those are the realities of broadcast television.

Thanks Pabawan.
I guess are next question is, is the access by the different networks going to open up a little. So more people can see it.
The whole thing does seem a bit off a mess
but thanks Pab for letting us all know how things stand. :P

I have heard that in my country, Spain, there is a channel that is negotiatiing, or has negotiated, with Lucasfilm and they will solely show The Clone Wars. This is an open-access channel, so I hope we will be able to watch it in the next months (perhaps next Autumn??)

someone has come up with a good point on the Hyperspace forum.
Pabawan, you say that LFL has to respect the broadcasters but wasn't the last CLone Wars series shown on hyperspace?
Why couldn't the same have been done now. Why wasn't the planning out of this done before the series was sold, i.e available to all to view via Star Wars.com/ itunes
a quick question, can I expect as a UK fan to be able to watch Clone Wars on itunes sometime soon (as at the moment it is available only on the US store)

and another thing. Clone Wars is being shown in the UK now, although on an expensive channel, but therfore, the online access should be available now!
What gives?

well guys here's another disgruntled european fan who's reached the point no longer subscribing to the genre and will now find solace scouring the charity shops for expanded universe novels to get my star wars fix cause it seems no matter how much we complain the bottom line appears that lucas arts couldn't care less about it's european audience

Well
Sir_Terenas,
I joined HS again about a week ago, seeing if there was any Clone Wars exclusives. As you can guess I was disappointed.
As for the series, it doesn't look like itunes UK are getting it anytime soon, and neither does it look like starwars.com are going to be showing it.
It's quite sad really.
in the long run though starwars.com is going to loose out

I'm TOTALLY Agree with you, Sithhunter123, I'm Venezuelan and the only latin american country that is enjoying the show (in legal ways, of course) is México, but by an open-access channel, Televisa, a quite powerfull broadcaster (in fact, the major share-holder of the American, Univisión).
The rest of us were left out of the building.

Hi I`m glad I found this blog, been wondering for ages why the darkside of T.V was given the rights to Clone War s in the U.K. And why we`er not aloud to watch it on here, when your a member. Is Mr. Lucas truning into the greedy Empire. I hope not.
