There are places I remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some has gone, and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends, I still can recall
Some are dead, and some are living
In my life, I love them all. - John Lennon from the Beatles' album
Rubber Soul.
Star Wars has been the joy of my life, as long as I can remember. Ever since I was a small child, living in a small town with not much entertainment but a drive-in kind of got boring. Until a space opera, which would change history and the people of the world, beamed through my eyes into the inner core of my imagination.
After that, everything changed. For years, I'd go to every store, auction, flea market, and many other place to find every cool and odd novelty I could get my grubby little hands on. Over the years, I'd became obsessed with Star Wars. And I knew I wasn't the only one.
Star Wars was about more than the toys and other assortment of merchandise. It is, and always will be, about the story. The characters. I fell in love with the characters, the droids, and the weird aliens, which seemed to come from the places no one would want to even think of going.
I always wanted to go to that far away place that seemed next door. And I knew there were others. Now, I've finally become a member of the Hyperspace club, and I finally can share my thoughts with all of you. The fans.
Now, even though the future of Star Wars is uncertain, as long as the fans continue to write about or buy the products, the legacy and memory of Star Wars will
never die.
Now, as night bleeds into morning, as a new day dawns, and as the new sun rises, we can all just sit back and talk about Star Wars. It's what we all love to do. And I believe, I can sit back and not worry about the future. I can just stare into space and get lost in that galaxy far, far away.
Now, as I'm putting my finishing touches on this, I believe my life of being a Star Wars fan has come full circle. From a young boy watching the movies endlessly, to an adult writing away at his keyboard, Star Wars is still as powerful and magical as it was twenty years ago. As the thirtieth birthday of the original comes closer everyday, I still can't believe that it was thirty years ago that my Star Wars journey began.
We have been following a saga that has taken thirty years to complete. Many have been there from the beginning, and many others have heard the word and have spread the story around the world. This is why we write blogs.
Now, just as Anakin's first journey ended and his second began, I think it is the same for us fans. The first thirty years have gone in a flash, and I believe the second will go just as fast. I will be there until the end. And I know I won't be alone.
May The Force Be With You.
