 | Crossroad |
I've been collecting Star Wars ever since I was 5 years old, my mother bought me a C-3PO figure. After that, everything started. I bought every single figure, playset, vehicle, spaceship, LEGO, comic book, and advirtisment I could get my hands on. I went to all the Prequels at midnight showings.(Even Episode1). My friends and I would dress up and wait in the line outside, waiting for the theater to open. Now that it has been over a year since the final film was released, I been thinking of the future.
What will happen? Of course, there are still video games, novels, and comics coming out, but it just isn't the same. Going out to stores, racing around to buy the latest action figures, or counting down the weeks until the next movie comes out. I know that probably won't happen again.
I believe most fans are at a crossroad in their obsession with everything Star Wars. The future is uncertain, although the news of two T.V shows has me excited. I've had some thoughts about selling my huge stash of figures, but I then tell myself that this isn't the end of Star Wars, but just another chapter in an ongoing and constantly changing story of its loyal fans. As long as the fans watch the films, buy the products, or make blogs about it, the story from a long time ago in a galaxy far away will never end.
May The Force Be With You.

It is what we make of it! That's how you have to view it. If you want to let it go let it go, but not because you think it will go away. More SW comes out all the time, just because more movies aren't coming out doesn't really make the difference.
This blog is more like it!

Sadly, I have never experienced the waiting for movies or the joyous frenzies of rushing for new figures. I became a fan on May 19, '05 when I got the OT for my birthday (YES!!! My birthday is on the great day of May 19th!!). I simply bought the movies as I found them. I see no end in the Star Wars legacy as long as we fans still support it. Time is a test to seperate those who follow fads and those who are loyal fans.
May the Force be with us all! God bless!

I hope and believe that it will stay around for a long, long time. After all, who could have seen this 30 years ago? It is sad in a way that we have no more films to look forward to, but having had to wait in torturous anticipation for each film after Episode IV, maybe that is a blessing.
I really have a lot of hope for the TV series that are coming. I think that once we get the first taste of that, all will feel ok again. I agree though, SW will never truly end....but it mat go in different directions than we have seen before.

Star Wars is a lot of fun . . . if you want it to be . . . for however long you want it to be.
One of the great things about the saga is that it contains a great many themes that can be related to real life.
Another is the fact that there are a lot of SW fans all over the world who are into the saga on different levels. If you can, go to next year's Fan Celebration, and I bet you'll find that SW is as strong as ever!
Whatever your level of interest, enjoy it.
And MTFBWY . . . always.

I was 7 when i saw Star Wars in '77 at the drive in movie theater. I've been fascinated by Star Wars ever since.
For me, I thought the whole thing was over though in '83 with ROTJ, but I was way off base. How the heck was I to know that I would find other great things out there as far as Star Wars. We had some cheesy movies, but they were great for the little kids, cartoons, comics, etc. Then came the Ride at Disneyland, Dark Forces series on the computer, the Prequels, Galaxies, Star Wars Celebrations. . .
There's really no telling where the end is, so I'm hanging on for the ride.

I never really was into SW until after TPM came out. It was when I started playing the role playing game from Wizards that my interest in the Star Wars universe grew. And then I started reading the novels and was opened up to a whole new realm. I too am excited about the future.

I love StarWars! I'm 13 and I have been loving SW since I was born. My mom said that one of the best things in the world is seeing a SW movie on big screen and she was 100 percent right! It was 1 of the best things i've seen in my life! Live on SW! Kit Fisto,I will never forget you!

I don't think George Lucas is going to make a another starwars movie. But I think we should be happy with what has happed to starwars and what will happen to starwars, like the tv show and the video games and the comics are all things we as starwars fans should look forward to. That is a enough for me atleast.

Star Wars can never die....not with the continual re-release of every film in every conceivable format and combination for generations to come.
Example:
Purchase Episode 2 and Episode 3, get the Super Sith Edition of Episode V for Free. Cool!

There is always a nano chance that mabye GL will make VII, VIII, IX. I'm not say he is going to and I know he already said he wasn't going to but if fans like us keep SW around and keep talking about, maybe he might change his mind. You never know. The original characters are still alive just older. If SW stuff would stop being made I would be really upset.

I agree I think that star wars will live forever, but I really wish that they would keep making movies, I love the prequels and hope that george lucas will keep making movies, It would be cool if they made the clone wars into a real movie with the same actors that would be really cool. I hope they make a third Kotor, it is my favorite game to play. That would be cool if they made kotor into a movie, I would go see it. I like Revan and Malak.

that is a great blog! i am a new huge fan of star wars , which started when i saw ep.III, and i collect figures, read books, play the video games, and watch the movies countless times, so to get to my point, as long as you still read the books, play the games, collect the figures, and watch the movies, then star wars will forever be with you!
may the force always be with you!

Mr. Lucas has said numerous times that he's not doing the Sequel Trilogy...but we will continue to hope as we did during the Dark Times (1986-1991). I wasn't a fan until 1999, but I wish that I had experienced every movie on the big screen.
And he has said of fanfilms, "Now, if the creator won't give you more, you can give yourself more." This is why my fanfilms aren't spoofs. They're serious stories.

I agree that there is still more left in the Star Wars Universe to do and explore. I do feel sad though about there not being any new movies. It has been such a big part of my life ever since my dad took me to see Star Wars: A New Hope when I was like 5. There has always been this anticipation about the 'next' movie. I even remember after Jedi that there was talk of the prequel. So it is a little bitter sweet...guess I'll take the comics and watch the DVD's.

Good blog.
Star Wars will stay alive and loved as long as people stay interested in it. Stories are constantly being written, inked, or whatever. These stories are interesting angles on a universe that we have become interested in and cannot get enough of.
The future? "Always in motion the future is" (Yoda)
Expect the unexpected... Anything could happen... The story ain't over yet...

I like the title. It is a crossroads time for many fans as we determine what out future interest in the saga will be. One thing is certain. Even if future SW adventures are less than desirable, they will not detract from the greatness of the films. If we don't like what the EU is doing, we can choose to ignore it.
