Hello, everyone. Here I am typing away at the keys, giving this usual speech about me typing an introduction to yet another one of my blogs. Well, today I went to Target and bought a whole bunch of SW figures and those new die-cast ones. I got a red shock trooper that I didn't get from the ROTS line, a chrome die-cast figure of Boba Fett, a Target exclusive die-cast Vader that is part black, part lava red like their figure from last year, two unleasheds, and some other stuff. Then I thought about Tuesday. I don't know why, but for some reason I always have these flashbacks. (Picture this: me standing in an aisle, holding my chin and staring at the ceiling as people watch me like ' what the heck?')
On Tuesday, Star Wars was released on DVD......again. I began a long, painful process by thinking about if I should get them. I all ready have the four-disc widescreen set from two years ago, so why should I buy them again? Sure, they have the originals that I have longed to see again, but I've read countless hatemail across the web, so I was a little nervous.
So, after three days of sleeping on the beds on display when the store closed, eating pretzels and drinking Starbucks coffee non-stop, being beaten by kids with Lightsabers while trying to sleep, and buying exacly three hundred packs of gum, I finally made a decision. (Is that dedication or what?) I picked up ESB because it is my favorite SW movie.
I went home, and popped in the bonus disc, which contained the original. I sat down for 129 minutes and relived the original original experiance! Well, it was good. In fact, it was great.
As I sat there, I remember as a kid watching them on the big screen for the first time. It wasw like getting on a bus and getting dropped off at Memory Lane. Sure, it wasn't true widescreen, and it wasn't an actual film transfer, I didn't care. I just sat there and enjoyed myself. After it was over, I did the grueling job of trying to find a place to put my new stuff.
So really, I don't care how many times George spits out the same movies, it just means that the next generation will have many different ways to experiance the saga that captured us all. And won't let us go.
May The Force Be With You.
