George Lucas Strikes Back.....Again?
Hello, everyone. Here I am typing away at the keys, giving this usual speech about me typing an introduction to yet another one of my blogs. Well, today I went to Target and bought a whole bunch of SW figures and those new die-cast ones. I got a red shock trooper that I didn't get from the ROTS line, a chrome die-cast figure of Boba Fett, a Target exclusive die-cast Vader that is part black, part lava red like their figure from last year, two unleasheds, and some other stuff. Then I thought about Tuesday. I don't know why, but for some reason I always have these flashbacks. (Picture this: me standing in an aisle, holding my chin and staring at the ceiling as people watch me like ' what the heck?')

On Tuesday, Star Wars was released on DVD......again. I began a long, painful process by thinking about if I should get them. I all ready have the four-disc widescreen set from two years ago, so why should I buy them again? Sure, they have the originals that I have longed to see again, but I've read countless hatemail across the web, so I was a little nervous.

So, after three days of sleeping on the beds on display when the store closed, eating pretzels and drinking Starbucks coffee non-stop, being beaten by kids with Lightsabers while trying to sleep, and buying exacly three hundred packs of gum, I finally made a decision. (Is that dedication or what?) I picked up ESB because it is my favorite SW movie.

I went home, and popped in the bonus disc, which contained the original. I sat down for 129 minutes and relived the original original experiance! Well, it was good. In fact, it was great.

As I sat there, I remember as a kid watching them on the big screen for the first time. It wasw like getting on a bus and getting dropped off at Memory Lane. Sure, it wasn't true widescreen, and it wasn't an actual film transfer, I didn't care. I just sat there and enjoyed myself. After it was over, I did the grueling job of trying to find a place to put my new stuff.

So really, I don't care how many times George spits out the same movies, it just means that the next generation will have many different ways to experiance the saga that captured us all. And won't let us go.

May The Force Be With You.

I'm 14 so I never got to experience the OOT. Soooo, I bought them all yesterday, all including exclusive graphic novels. So far I watched ANH, & ROTJ. There are many major differences!

the ORIGINAL originals are the best. I disagree with people who say "they belong to Lucas, he can do what he wants". You don't mess with as close to perfection as human beings can come. You wouldn't put Mona Lisa in a new dress.

adambombski, how silly. Who cares what others think???? Just do what makes you happy! I bought all three - because I WANTED to, and :p to those who would lambast me for that decision. I am just so happy that GL decided to do this for SW fans. I appreciate the fact that he was willing to do this for us, even though he didn't really want to go back to the Original OT.

Enjoy your dvd(s) - no matter how many different versions you have! :) (and all your other SW goodies, too, of course!)

It does give us a little break from all these movies we're seeing now. I mean, every movie out nowadays just goes BOOM BOOM BOOM(Oohs and aahs from amazingly detailed special effects)

What's wrong with amazingly detailed special effects? They look so crisp & perfect! I looooooove visual effects!

They look so crisp and perfect! I loooove visual effects! But therein lies the problem with some people. (Mostly older ones) They perceive them as being too crisp and perfect, thus losing "soul." And every effect seen on screen is scene as detracting from the story.Honestly, I hear so much moaning and groaning directed towards the SEs and prequels for "trading story for visuals." People said the same thing to the OOT. EvenThe Empire Strikes Back. Back then when the so-called "First Generation" of SW fans saw the movies their parents and grandparents said the same thing-"You silly kids with your new-fangled space movies with all the explosions! Back in my day movies had soul. I watched Casablanca blah blah blah...":p

The OOt is amazing!

I had the pleasure of watching "Han shoot first" with my good friend , Anakinside1 over the weekend....we oohed and ahhed over the original footage; discussed what was added, cut, etc....it was great to re-live the "old times". It's also quite amazing how great the special effects really were in 1977...not much "tweaking" actually needed to be done.

I, being one of the "older ones", as Son of a Bith put it, also appreciate the "crisper" versions of the saga as well. I am a hard-core fan. It's all good to me.

I say GL can re-release anything he wants...anytime. The man is a genius. :D

I was so excited for the OOT- I had to go out and get them right away. My mom has always told me how floored she was after seeing SW for the 1st time in the theatre, because it was truly one-of-a-kind. Like Momof2YoungPadawan said, the special effects blew everyone away in 1977. I feel lucky that I get a taste of that now!

Ditto.

But I'm giving my DVD trilogy from a couple of years ago to my sister for her kids.

Nothing, but they're even better when you have a good story to back them up

or it just means that George Lucas will continuously rape the pocketbooks of the people dumb enough to feed their cash to him. The trilogy has been released something like 13 times.

As much as I enjoy Star Wars, it's obvious the creator is a greedy hack who only sees dollar signs anymore. But, now that that's out of the way, I wish they would release the movies on DVD every week. I don't think seventeen versions of each movie is ever enough.
