I finished reading the first two books in the
Rebel Force series this weekend. Both
Target and
Hostage are by Alex Wheeler and published by Scholastic.
These two books were a really fun read! Of course knowing both the past and the future of this story makes all the "hints" obvious. But still, it was great seeing the Jedi Grand Master as a bumbling teenager again. There was even Yoda's "rootleaf" and one HUGE surprise that I'm not going to say anymore about other than that the writers are experts at manipulating readers' emotions.
I enjoyed Alex Wheeler's writing style. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. From what I have seen posted elsewhere, the third book in the series,
Renegade, is to be released in May.
Speaking of Yoda's "rootleaf", on December 2nd the Homing Beacon #254 email distribution message included a recipe for
Yoda's Rootleaf Herb Stew (the Craig Claiborne 1983 NPR version). I've been thinking about giving it a try. It might be a good project for January or February. Only if I make it, I will probably make it with chicken and not with lamb.
I may have to sell my speeder to buy all the different herbs and spices that are called for in this recipe. Most I have never used before. Some I've never even heard of before. This copy of the recipe says "cardamon" but I'm assuming it means "cardamom", a kind of ginger. I had to look that up on the Internet.
I don't know if anyone out there has tried the "rootleaf" recipe??
