When I started out blogging, I decided that a Star Wars blog should be about Star Wars, so it's never been my intention to discuss real world politics, history or the like directly here. However there may be the odd blog dedicated to other science fiction and fantasy series, since they fall close enough to Star Wars that they can loosely be considered "on topic." I might also touch on Star Wars fan activities, including message boards.
Another note is that my viewpoint on the Star Wars universe is definitely geared to the C-level canon Official Continuity of the Expanded Universe. If you're a film purist, I don't have a problem with that. However, I'm personally inclined to treat most of the Expanded Universe as "real" Star Wars, even when I'm discussing the films, though in the event of a direct conflict films trump EU.
