In the past, the Lucasarts company has produced a truck load of...let's call them
iffy...games, but with the release of one of their newest titles, Republic Commando, the company seems to be coming around. And there's no lightsabers this time around, thank goodness, so there's no more scratching your head trying to listen to the philosophical jumble that constitutes past Lucasarts games. The controls are easy to learn and customizable, the HUD is pretty swell, the weapons are easy to use, you get a good ol' hack-and-slash knife, and there are WOOKIES! Dude! As for the story, it seemed to flow pretty nicely, and you got to take in a bit of humor now and then during the campaign. The effects were good, and the squad was a lot smarter than me in some areas, taking good positions and shooting important enemies.
My Review:
Pros: Good controls, decent story, WOOKIES, bonus featurettes, cool interface, great weapons and locations, smart enemies, smart clones.
Cons: seems too short, multi-player has a lot of issues in terms of the player's abilities during a game.
Overall, It's a great game to buy or rent, and It's okay as far as the multi-player is concerned, so I think I'm gonna agree with "Boss" over there in the photo and give this one a thumb's up.
