Fathers and Sons
I recently watched TESB again, however I noticed something that I never noticed before: Vader is Luke's Father! I know, duh. No really. Obviously everyone who has a heartbeat knows that Vader is Anakin and he is his father but there was a different feeling watching it now for some reason. Is it because I have now seen ROTS. Maybe I see Darth Vader differently. Maybe I see Luke differently now. Is it because of my relationship with my father, which is great by the way. Maybe that is just it. I think the greatest draw to the Star Wars experience is the Vader/Luke thing. If you really put yourself in Luke's shoes, how would you feel? Similar to Anakin's feelings about the Jedi? THey lie. They trick you into believing things. I thought they were good. Even in today's times. Terrorism is rampant now. THey say that AMerica is the Great Satan. Well, I am from America and I am not Satan! Just who is right anyway? If I was Luke, I would be horrified to know Vader is my dad. But we see in ROTJ he gets so close to Vader and feels comfortable around him, just the opposite in TESB. Luke then confronts Yoda and ObiWan and they tell him the truth, so he knows they lied to him. Luke should be outraged, just like Anakin was.

The difference is ObiWan explains points of view. I thought this was just a really bad cop out for Lucas to cover any mistakes made in continuity. But later I realized that he is right on. Everything in our lives is point of view. There is no right or wrong. Society makes boundries to live by and we constantly test those boundries. We also see many violate the boundries and get away with it, while they smell like roses all along. America is gulity of this, as is Anti America. Luke did the bravest thing of all: He confronted the evil, beat it and then held back and stated that it all must stop.

We need a Luke in our world. Stop the evil, beat it and then stoart with a balance in the force. It all comes down to fathers and sons. Maybe if we threw in some Mothers and Daughters, life would be a better place quicker, huh? :)
