What a strange couple of days it's been. The remnants of hurricane Ike came through Cincinnati yesterday, but the city saw barely a drop of rainwater. However, we bore witness to near-Level 1 Hurricane winds, as we were subjected to winds that neared 75-mph. Trees were leveled, powerlines were toppled, and the wrath of God was felt by everyone in the Queen City.

In the end, 3 people were killed, and over 600,000 (including myself) lost power. We were fortunate that the number of deaths were not higher, especially given the number of trees that were toppled. My backyard looks like a disaster area, but fortunately not a single branch touched my home. My power came back on around 5 this evening, and I am thankful to have back a simple luxury that is very easy to take for granted. There are still over 500,000 that are without electricity.
