Midnight Premier
Welcome to my first blog entry! I decided for my first attempt, I would try something simple. How about how my small town premier of Episode III became one of the greatest nights of my life? Actually, the greatest! Sounds like an okay topic to me.

Living in a small town, I hadn't expected much for the premier. Maybe a few kids in costumes, and a decent amount of people. Nothing much. But hey, if your gonna see the final StarWars movie, why not see it at the premier showing? Just in case, upon a tiny ray of hope, I took my Jedi robe along for the ride. On that fine night in May I entered my local mall six hours early. Most people were leaving, and the AMC 14 lobby was deserted. Upon receiving my ticket I was told to go to theater ten. So I walked to the back, and found just what I expected. Nothing. :(

There were a grand total of seven people in line for my theater, and nine in line for the one across the room. Luckily I had come prepared for a dull time; bringing my Republic Commando book along. Using my robe as a pillow I sat against the wall and began to read.

I was distracted a few minutes later by the arrival of two young boys both dressed as Darth Vader. Their parents had brought a portable DVD player, and sat to watch Episode I. Unfortunately they were in the opposite line. Fortunately, I was entertained from that point on. A man in a full Jedi costume showed up next, with a flashing lightsaber. Then, came a group of nine teenagers, who were making up songs with StarWars lyrics. Following them was the Chik-Fil-A cow, from the Chik-Fil-A in the mall. More groups of kids arrived next, and began asking the man dressed as a Jedi for pictures. That's when I got in the spirit, and put my own robe on. :D

The rest of the night was a blur. The couple watching Phantom put in Clones, and invited everyone to come watch. Members from a small fan club came and handed out pieces of colored paper that could be folded into lightsabers. Lighsaber fights could be found from everywhere to the hall to the bathrooms. :^O You can only imagine my shock of walking into the bathroom and finding three people having a battle for the open sink. Finally we were allowed in, and as expected the theater had a lot of people. Yet unexpectedly enough that it was jammed pack. A man from an online drawing company handed out awesome drawings of Darth Vader and Stormtroopers to everyone while we waited. At last the theater became dark. The moment for the last installment of George Lucas's dream was here. I waited in anticipation.

The film didn't start. :O

Cries of outrage sounded, and that could probably be heard in nearby states. Two energetic guys ran to the front of the theater and entertained us by acting out Obi-Wan and Darth Vader's ep. IV fight for ten minutes. Then out of the dark came a light. The music started, and we were transported to a galaxy far, far away.

Well...that turned out longer then I expected! Who knew it would take so many words to tell about one night! Anyway, may the force be with you!
