Questions That Keep You up at Night: Two
Hello everyone! Tonight I'm back to answer another puzzling and mysterious question about Star Wars that would keep you up at night thinking about it.

In some of the Star Wars Insider issues, a small box in the Comlink section holds questions about Star Wars to keep you up at night. The question I have tonight was not in the magazine, but instead comes from our own fellow blogger, the amazing- Nob01!

Though the question was not published, it still contains the ability to bewilder you and make you think twice as hard as normal, and three times as hard as you should. Nob01 asked, "What did Han and co. do with the bodies of the two Stormtroopers they stole armor from? Are they still rotting in the spice hold?

Well Nobby, with out further ado, I present the "logical" conclusion. ;)

As we see in the movie, after the Millennium Falcon docks in the Death Star, Stormtroopers are told to search the ship. Though they didn't find anything, and several escape pods had been jettisoned, Darth Vader wouldn't simply allow it to be assumed that no one was on board. He ordered a scanning crew to search the ship at once.

Unknown to Darth Vader, our heroes had hid inside secret smuggling compartments in the Falcon. When the Stormtroopers exited the ship, they emerged from their hiding spot. After this point, the exact events that happened inside the Falcon are unclear. We do know that when the scanning crew (only two men) came aboard, loud metal noises could be heard. Han's voice asks for help from the two Stormtroopers left guarding the Falcon. They both go into the ship, unknowingly heading to their doom. Blaster fire is heard from within the Falcon. It is assumed that both the scanning crew and the Stormtroopers are dead. Han and Luke steal the trooper's armor and head into the midst of the Death Star.

The question that remains, besides what happened in the Falcon exactly, is what did Han and co. do with the bodies? Now, I think the scanning duo are only knocked out, perhaps banged over the head with some metal object (some of you may disagree) so I'll go with that assumption. Han and co. may have left them inside the smuggling hold, and I can picture them waking up hours later, finding themselves trapped in a small, dark space, screaming for their lives. Their terror would still be further increased. Imagine them finding two dead bodies lying beside them, both almost completely naked. Possibly one of the scanner dudes would be saying this to himself in the dark

"Wow. This is weird. It's all dark in here. I can't even see my hands! I'll try standing up. Owww! I hit my head on some odd metal thing. Which reminds me. Didn't someone knock me over the head with a blaster? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! There's someone in here with me! Wait...is that Rick...I can't tell....Rick, is that you? Hey, wait; I still have my Imperial handy light! Where's the switch...? Oh I got i- Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"

In the end, if you couldn't tell, the poor scanner man turned on his ever-handy light and found the shocker of not one, but two dead guys. Naked dead guys. Creepy stuff.

Now, to get to the end of the answer, the final destination of the scanners and the troopers was not to be the spice hold. Eventually, through the combined efforts of both scanners, a passing trooper heard them, and came to their aid, though it took the poor guy several minutes to figure out the source of the voices. In the end, he realized he was standing on top of them. The scanners were freed, though they developed an extreme case of claustrophobia. The trooper's bodies were loaded on to a freighter that took away the rest of the bodies of unfortunate Stormtroopers who were taken out by Han and co. during their visit to the Death Star. All the bodies, including TK-421 and his buddy, were distributed to the Burn Site, a large building set up on Coruscant that was claimed to "prepare fallen Stormtroopers for burial" to the public, but truthfully burned all the bodies in a furnace-like machine.

I hope I did justice to your question Nob01. Once again, none of this is true folks, it's just a (unlikely) possibility. I'll leave everyone with something to ponder.

What was TK-421's name in the Star Wars novel?

Please send me any questions you come up with, or post them here.

Until next time.

~Merryman~

I would like to thank everyone that took the time to view this, and for the Lucas Film employees for putting on the front page. I'm glad so many people could take the time to glance at this.
