Coming back to an old friend...
Just today, I sat down, and popped in my "The Empire Strikes Back" DVD. And, I enjoyed it to such an extent, it now sits in the number one spot of my "Favorite Movies List"... Why is that?

Well, a few months ago, a certain film was scratched by a faulty DVD player. And you can guess what film that was... yep, ESB. I was extremely depressed when I noticed a perfectly uniform circle around the DVD. But, I did not have the funds to replace it immediately, so I waited. And waited. And finally, I got it. The whole special edition box set. I was very excited when I carefully placed the ESB disk into the DVD player, finally getting to watch my favorite OT film again (with surround sound, I might add ;)).

And, as I watched, I noticed things as if this were the first time I had ever seen the movies (referring to all of the little details, not the main plotline, of course). I especially enjoyed Boba's part in the film, for obvious reasons... Not that it was anything new, but it was nice to see a clone with a larger part than being shot... ;)

But, above all else, I believe I was most amazed by two particular settings in that film: the Hoth battle, and Cloud City. Why? Well, for the Hoth battle, I believe it was the fun level. It was a blast to watch the little, puny looking ships take on the huge AT-ATs, and win, while it was also tragic to watch Luke's co-pilot die, and Luke to also nearly be killed. And for Cloud City, two words... Pretty paintings... ;)

Yoda's performance was also very fun to watch, as he pretended to be a crazy little frog. I laughed through that whole scene..:^O

No, that film is nothing new, but it was such a joy to be able to watch it for the millionth time, feeling almost like it was the first. I also enjoyed the more family-friendly feel to it all. Sure, it has it's moments, like the Wampa, but I feel it is a great movie for the whole family nonetheless.

That's how the fifth installment of the best saga in the world is now first in the list of my favorite films.

May the Force Be With You All...
